Default Question about the 1996 and 1997 Lexus LX450s

I'm not looking to buy, but am I looking for some information since I like to learn about car history.

Now I know that the Toyota Land Cruiser came in a Red Exterior color, but did the Lexus LX450 from 1996 to 1997 come with the Red as an option?

If not, was it possible to have it painted? I know if probably would have costed a lot, but was it an option?

Once again, I'm not looking to buy, I was just interested because I thought that if a car came in more than one color, it could come in red.

Thanks for the answers.

Well was it possible to take it to an auto paint shop to have it painted red? Once again I'm just looking into this for research purposes. I'm not going to actually do it now do I want to.

I meant as an aftermarket pain job and not have it delivered red straight from the factory if there was any confusion, but whatever.

Red paint won't adhere to the surface of a LX

Well not unless you take it to a professional, shell out $5000 dollars and get the job done professionally. And I do know some people that do that: get their cars professionally repainted (not just Lexus's, but any make).

OK I'll bite! Why did you post the question if you know the answer?

Mainly I just wanted to know why the Toyota Land Cruiser could come in red but why not the Lexus LX450 couldn't. I know that the LX450 was only made in 1996 and 1997, but I thought red, since it was a primary color, would be used more commonly.

It wasn't until just now I found out that YES, it is possible to get a car repainted, at a heavy price though. So I assume if it is possible for any car, it would be possible to get a red LX450 the same color as a Toyota Land Cruiser from those years.

Sorry thought you were joking . Think since the LX is considered luxury, not many luxury vehicles painted red at least not in the 90's.

well, technically speaking, the LandCruiser wasn't really red, either - more like a maroon

personally, I wouldn't pay $$$ to have a car painted red just for the sake of it - I drove a maroon Mitsubishi Expo for >20 years as a daily driver (bought it new in '92, but the color really was irrelevant to me, price was heavily discounted due to manual transmission) - even spending only just the first 7 of those 21 years in the Arizona sun faded the paint into oblivion :meh: (actually, the vehicle is still on the road after I sold it in 2013; I saw it the other day, now with a damaged driver side ) - I have yet to pay for repaint on a vehicle
