Default I need the location for o2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1 - 1999 LX470

I need the location of bank 1 and sensor 1 on that bank. I would also very much appreciate any useful tips for replacing it.
Does anybody know where to get service manuals for this vehicle for a reasonable price besides Ebay.

Go to https://techinfo.toyota.com/ for `$15 USD you get 48 hours access. The FSM is online there broken into chapters by topic in PDF format. You can download and save the sections you are interested in and view them after your sub runs out. They also have all the dealer performed service info on your car as well as TSBs and tech tips.

O2 sensor 1 bank 1 will always be on the exhaust pipe that leads away from cylinder #1 and be before the catalytic converters. Sensor 2 will be post cat. Bank 2 will be the exhaust leading from cylinder #2.

Tip. Disconnect the harness from the working bank 2 sensor and measure the resistance of the heating element. If it is 12 ohms then don't waste your time with Bosch or other after market O2 sensors. They will measure 4 Ohms and will throw a code almost immediately. Your safe play is Denso (oem) or Toyota part.

Order your Genuine Toyota parts for your 100 series land cruiser (with Lexus badges :P) from Cruiser Dan 1-800-432-6668. He is a parts guy at a real Toyota dealer and discounts for members of this and iH8mud forums.

One more thing, start right now don't wait go out and spray the nuts on the O2 sensor studs with PB Blaster (not WD40). Repeat this every day until you pull it off.

The autoparts chains loan the tool to remove the O2 sensor between the catalyitic converter and exhaust manifold. You should consider replacing both Bank 1 and Bank 2. O2 sensors degrade with time and impact fuel economyu and performance. I found the hardest part of the job to be getting the connector undone. Make sure you use antiseize on the threads. Don't get it on anything but the threads or the sensor will be ruined.

Look at the O2 sensors on your LX. If they use nuts and studs like in the diagram then you only need a 10mm wrench or socket. Buy a new gasket with the new sensor. If the studs and nuts are in good shape reuse them. If not then Doorman sells a kit of 2 studs and matching nuts.

If your O2 sensor screws directly into the bung then your R&R will be much easier with the O2 tool as kwatt1 describes.

Thanks for the info on the stud kit. It's good to know its not a lost cause for replacement. I looked at the downstream O2 sensors and the threads are history which means when its time to replace them, it will be a cut thing. Sounds like the pipes still hvae to come down for stud replacment though.

The upstream sensors screw in. The downstream sensors bolt on as you described

Naval Jelly and a stainless steel detail brush can do wonders for those studs if they are rusted into an indistinguishable mass. There won't be enough material left once the rust is removed to hold the new sensor well. But the stud kit is less than $3. You can try using two nuts on the stud with the lower one backed out into the higher one as a jam nut to remove the stud.

Good hunting!

EDIT: I think this is the stud kit needed but double check before ordering.
