I have to replace the engine in my 2000 LX470. I am going to most likely buy a low mileage used motor. It sounds like there are two different groups of 2UZ-FE engines. 98-2000( thru April) and 2000 (from may) -2005. The manufacture date of my vehicle is 3/00. That puts me in the first group. Does anyone know the difference between the two engines?. Is it possible that the difference is just external components that can be transferred from the old engine to the replacement? Or, is the later motor completely not compatible with the older version/computer system. I was looking at a 2002 Tundra motor but just not sure and don't want to buy something that does not work.
