Default LX470, 2004 towing rating?

I know I posted on here before but that was a life time ago.

I bought a 24” boat and with trailer total dry weight of 4800LBS. I have the bumper hitch rated at 5000LBS. I read that I cannot use Weight Distribution since the trailer has serge brakes. I plan on buying an after market hitch...

What are my options here?

I can’t believe this big gas sucking SUV is so whippy that much smaller SUV can trailer much higher weight. Just for this reason alone, I will not be buying anothher LX

Um...mmmm.....As much as you would love to hook up some sort of a hitch to the LX, I somewhat feel like this particular automobile was manufacturered solely for sport utility driving, luxury seating and 4WD functionality.

I have NEVER towed anything with my LX. I save that job for my old beat up Toyota Tundra truck.

Most SUVs, Suburban size excluded, generally have too short of a wheelbase to be optimum, long distance tow vehicles. Short wheelbase vehicles with longer rear overhangs relative to the wheelbase tend to have more problems overcoming trailer sway. Pickups and full-size vans are probably the best light duty tow vehicles (under 10K lbs. loaded trailer weight), until you get into rigs like F450s and above.
