My wife and I are looking at a 99 LX470 with 93,000 Miles on it. Really excited to see the car, but obviously need to be educated on what to look for in terms of potential repairs and overall shape. Knowing what you all know now, what would you look for?

1) using the VIN number, a lexus dealer or you can check the service work that was done to the vehicle, if done at a lexus dealer.

2) check the forums for any recalls on this model year.

3) at 90K miles, the truck is due for its major service. If not already done, this can be a $1000.oo service +

4) check for substantial rust on the undercarriage, accident history, make sure the height control is working on all 4 wheels, take a look at CV Boots and joints, and see how she drives (steering and transmission)

5) check to make sure all electronics are working (mirrors, powerseats, climate control) and check tires.

These trucks have a great power train and are tanks. If the truck was well taken care of, you will not need to do much more than regular service, wear and tear items.

I have a later 2007, but don't know if the 99's are prone to certain problems. The 99 was early in this body style's life and most kinks were worked out by 2006-2007
