Default Car will turn over but wont start. No Fire! HELP!

I have a 2000 LX470 and every once and a while or every other day it will not start and all the coil packs are not firing. I am trying to figure out what will cause them all not to fire one day but will fire the next. I had to tow it home last time it didnt start and in the middle of towing it I was able to start it up. Sounds like something is loose but not sure what would make this not fire on any cylinder. Any thoughts would be great or if anyone has had this problem in the past and know what it is then that would be great. Thanks to all that reads this and is willing to help!

Do the headlights work? If they are flaky, I'd suspect a bad ground. If your engine is turning over (via the starter) but is not igniting, it's obviously something w/ the fuel system...harness for the igniters, power to the fuel pump, something like that.

Check the security system, if the little car light on the dash doesnt go out when you put the key in...there's your problem. Do you ALWAYS use the same key?

Loud,

I'm having a similar start up issue. I have a new key but I think the problem with starting happened before I got the new key. Can't remember exactly. I've also got a problem with the door locks not working right and some car audio shop thought this was a programming issue.

Not sure I believe the programming issue but if so, what would I do to tests/resolve?

Jim, what other items are there to check: harness to igniters, power to fuel pump, and what else?

You can connect an OBDII tester and check if the igniter coils are really good or not.

I just realized that the car is not picking up the key. Why would that be? I see the little red light under my radio that shows a car symbol with a key inside of it. I would guess that little light flashing red would mean it does not recognize the key. I also noticed when it does read my key that the red light no longer flashes. Any thought on why it would not read my key or what may have gone bad?
