How to wire a Valentine?
Is there any info on the best place to hardwire a Valentine One radar in the LX-470? I know its probably a no-brainer, but didn't want to go on exploration testing wires for 12v if this has been covered before. Anybody???

Check to see if your cigarette lighter is power only when the key is in Ignition On. If it is, then get the power from there. That is what i did on my set up when i find out my cigarette slot only has power when the key is at Ignition On.

Thanks for the reply but I was kind of hoping to find a source of power in the roof. This would make for a very clean / hidden installation. I just figured somebody must have hard wired their radar up there by now and could tell me which wire to tap. I guess I'll just pull out the 'ole meter and start probing...

I would like to hardwire my Valentine to the cigarette lighter wire. Does anyone know hot to get to it. Are there any directions out there to remove the dash or get behind the lighter?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Bill, as you can tell by my posting date, very few Lexus owners like to tinker it appears. If you had asked this question in a BMW forum, you'd have 10 replies the next morning!
I took and tapped the roof light wire for my 12 volts and used an existing bolt in the headliner for a ground. I then have only the RJ11 phone cord sticking out of the headliner to hook to the valentine. It's clean, discreet, and works great.

Yes I did the same thing on both my SC430 and LX470. I also put the remote on the top of the steering column. The wire is all hidden and the remote is very easy to see without taking your eyes off the road.
