Default 2001 LX470 - High RPM at 75 mph

So I need some help diagnosing a really strange problem with my LX470. Sometimes (Not Always) when I accelerate onto the Freeway my LX470 will get up to 4500 RPM at 75 mph and will not downshift. I have noticed that if I put my truck into neutral and then back into drive it will return it is usual RPM level (2300 RPM).

Does anyone know what might be causing this?

I appreciate the response and apologize for not adding this initially. I have 110,000 miles on it.

Make sure your overdrive is on. But may want to have it serviced.

When was the last time you had the tranny serviced?

sounds like you may have an issue with the overdrive. If you have not changed the transmission fluid, you may want to consider doing so.
