Ls 430 or Lx 470
I'm an Ls400 owner and i urged my buddy to invest in a Lexus. So we're caught between the Ls430 and Lx470. He likes the Lx, but he's concerned about the mileage being too high. My buddy is thinking about buying an Lx 470 with a 17 to 18 grand budget. I'm thinking there aren't going to be any good ones available within that budget (unless it's a high mileage '99, '00, '01, or '02 for that matter). These trucks, as with any Lexus product, hold their value very well. As with those years I know the mileage is going to be high. So my question is, what do you recommend in terms of looking for an Lx 470? Should he wait and save more money or is it worth looking for one within that budget? The maintenance is a concern on a high mileage Lx470. It's either the Ls430 or Lx470. I'm more knowledgeable of the Ls430 than the Lx. Appreciate your time.

The LX470 is design with 25 year plus lifespan, where "plus" is the key word. It can last a very long long time, probably more than you are willing to keep it for.
For the life of me I would not be able to chose between the LS and LX. I'd have both. If only one... well, OK I did chose - still keeping the LX.

As an owner of both an LS and an LX, I can't begin to understand how you would cross shop the two. They're both magnificent vehicles but are two completely different types of transportation.
Your "buddy" needs to decide what he/she wants out of a vehicle. That should make the decision easy.

i would pick the LX because I just would enjoy it more. We have a LS and I like it and it has a very nice interior but I don't care to much for it, I am truck suv guy and not a car guy.
Any year LX470 is a very old design, the 2007 LX470 is a design from the late 1990's so you need to keep that in mind.

Well, I appreciate the help. So i'm going to continue the double search (Ls and Lx). I'm sure I'll find an Lx within the 17 grand budget. I'll try, if i find one within the budget, to have my buddy test drive the Lx. It's just important to me that the maintenance records are up to date. But at the end of the day, it's up to him. Thanks again for the info.
