Default Considering buying another LX

Ok, so my sister in law is going to sell me her 1999 Lexus LX 470 in August. It has 105k miles as of today. It is the brown topaz color over beige and is in good shape mechanically, and good cosmetically. She will give it to me for trade in value when she gets her new car (either a GX470 or GL450). What do you guys think? I was going to get a newer one, but I think this is a pretty good deal. Keep in mind, I have a 2001 LX470, gold with 118k miles now.

You should be getting a good deal since I'm guessing the trade-in value will be low, like $10K?

While I don't NEED another, I also have a 1999 Audi A6 wagon, which my son drives. I was thinking on giving the 1999 LX to him, as he is going to college in the fall, and selling the Audi. I think the Lexus is a better car. I will not be getting a newer LX if I buy this. So, do I give my son a nicer car, or me a nicer car?

Missing a big part of good deal. What is she going to sell it to you for? has the timing belt and water pump been done? How did she service the LX. Fill in that infor and we can tell you if its a good deal.

The car has everything done to it, timimg belt and water pump. It was leased new at a Lexus dealer in Florida. Relocated to Los Angeles, serviced at Keyes (a Lexus dealer) until 100k miles and now serviced at a "Keyes Lexus recommended service facilty." Mechanically extremely sound, okay cosmetically. I know there are quite a few dents, no tears in the leather but there is some flaking if that makes sense. Smokey Brown Topaz over tan, no accidents, however the only really questionable thing is that she claims that the hydrolic suspension always had the left side a little higher than the right. The dealer found no evidence of it, so it was never fixed.

Sounds like a good vehicle but it all depends on the price.

If I came upon the decision to get another LX or not too -- I'd get another LX. Hands down another LX.
