Default 3rd Row?

What's the trick involved in installing 3rd row seats? It must be something simple I'm overlooking, but can't seem to solve the riddle. Any tips would be appreciated.

The trick is to read the owner's manual.

I struggled with mine for about an hour before realizing that I did not have the seat handle in the down position, therefore, sending the front mounting bracket forward those crucial 2-4 inches. Once I did that, both seats went installed in 10 minutes. I felt very stupid. I was following that seat install diagram on the back rear side where the tire jack kit is located and must have missed that step.

Good luck!

Same here but I stuggled on the passenger side of the 3rd seat for about 30min because there was like white salt buildup in the lever. BTW I read the instructions on the cover of the place where you get ur jack&tools.

Good luck!

we like to use our 3rd row seats often, but require them to be out of the way often for hauling things. It is the BIGGEST pain in the butt trying to get these in and out.

That is a reason we are looking for a new car. Still waiting for specs/details about the lx 570......who knows when that info will ever be out.

A past post said the LX570 won't have removeable 3rd row seats, so you won't have that problem.

agreed. Its just I dont know how anyone knows anything about the upcoming lx570---there is virtually no confirmed info on it anywhere....just hopeful speculation and well intentioned rumors.

go read my post containing info regarding the LX570 in the sticky at the top of the LX board - that info is straight from lexus, not speculation, not rumors.

Default No Problems with the seats

I take them out all the time and have no problems. I have found that it is best to leave the rear tailgate up while you're taking them out of the car. A quick clean and jerk and I put them in their spots on the garage shelves. Might not work too well if you're vertically challenged.

Dude. What is it with that white salt type stuff in the cargo area? I see it all the time on LX's. Is it some kind of moisture absorbing silica they pack them with when they ship them over here?

i removed the 3rd row seating on my new LX the second day i had it. no white stuff anywhere. that would suggest to me that it isn't a factory installed desiccant.

Damn _JP_ droppin' those SAT words on us...

It's probably odor-absorbant aka baking soda used by dealers to recon the units.
