here are a few, the first one my friend has on his Toyota FJ Cruiser, in Boulder Colorado. He uses it every week and says it works well. I just called him to find out which one he had.

The rest of these all can fit on your factory roofrack with the proper clamps which your thule dealer "should" have in stock when you go buy a rack, or you can call thule and find out exactly which ones you will need. Then you can order it online.
you have these that stick up and for snowboards only

these are ski and snowboard

here are some more

Yakima also makes quality ski racks for factory rack setups. Here is a link for them

Also, if you ever think about it, thule also makes ski racks that go in your 2" hitch reciever.

seems like roof racks arent anywhere cheap.
hope these links work
http://www.thuleracks.com/thule/fg_c...tion_number=1#
and then i guess you have to buy it in a two part thing.
http://www.thuleracks.com/thule/prod..._id=24&sku=725
then a locker?

i like the hitch idea but if i ever got rear ended that would be couple grand worth of snowboards.

well then it seems like a roof rack is your best bet at only a couple hundred.
If you are going to be going with a few buddies then i would strongly suggest you all pitch in together to get the rack.
below is the attached image of my friends "725" i think thule.

the website makes it more complicated that it really is.
i think it was the 725 thule, like your friends.
Went to REI, they had the rack in stock. Had to be the feet and locks seperate.
Basically the feet go on our stock rack. Thule rack mount to that feet and that's pretty much it.
held all 4 boards with bindings and not bad looking either. Saw another champagne with the exact rack when i was parked at the resort

not a bad idea! Besides...how many municipal multi-level garages are there in AZ? You dont really have to worry much about overhead clearance. Quick question that my friend never answered for me, does the 725, or the mounting brackets provide you with the ability to fold them down to possibly gain extra clearance for your garage or something?

not really, the picture above is exactly how it sits without the boards.
the sandwich bars do have quick release screws so you can take them off fast. *leaves the feet brackets.
my garage isn't huge, but i have a "bigger" garage than most cookie cutter houses.
the setup is elementary, two feet, then the bar thing.
