1997 LX450 pricing help?
hey guys im new to the LX scene, but i am looking to purchase a clean record dealer car that has been previously owned twice. this car is a white 97 LX450 for $13,800k listed price, he dealed with me to sell it at $12,800. this car also has 99k miles on it. pictures so far look mint inside (tan) and out (two tone white on gold). bottom line is do you guys think its worth it? i kbb'd it and $12,200 is how much an excellent private party should be dealing it for. i am a little hesitant because i only purchase new dealer cars, never used. thanks in advance.

Prices vary from region to region. In the part of northern California, where I am, that price is fair. Try to get the maintenance history for the vehicle and run a carfax on it. The service/maint. history can be obtained at any Lexus dealership service department. Just provide them with the VIN. You'll need a VIN for the carfax too.
You shouldn't expect too much in the way of problems. At the mileage you list, it's probably due for a front axle service -- which can be expensive, a starter, and possibly a head gasket. I mention the HG because some have problems, most do not -- but it's something to look out for.
If you can get the dealer to pay for 1 or all 3 of these things...you'll have a GREAT deal -- I doubt they'd do it though...but it can't hurt to ask when negotiating.
FWIW, I have 2 LX 450s -- one with over 128k miles and another with around 89k miles. I woundn't hesitate to take either one on a cross-country trip at the drop of a hat.
