It's good to know that there may be a product for the sunroof that won't contribute to shattering. Being in FL high heat, I'll err on the side of caution and go without. Thanks for all who shared.

crystalline tint 40% was used on the windows and 90% which is clear was used on the sunroof. I guess it does not reflect the light back through the first pane but filters what enters the cabin of the vehicle.

Just talked with a Huper Optik window tint installer that has been in the window tint business for over 25 years in the DFW Metroplex area with 6.5 million population (and many 100+ degree days and many 10+ UV intense sun levels each summer), who has tinted probably every vehicle known to have ever been produced in the last 25 years, and he has never experienced a sunroof to shatter due to any window tint film he carries and installs.

I went ahead and googled "tinted sun roofs shattering". It seems that this is a commonly discussed subject with no real proof or answer one way or the other. Even professional tinters will have differing opinions about it as witnessed here. So, which brand of gasoline is the best?

Let's not stop there! Which bottled water is best?

Yeah I wouldn't worry about the sunroof thing.

As for my issue, I'm still leaning towards keeping the tint I have. Nice sunny day today and its hardly noticeable, I think the fronts will always look somewhat lighter because of the windshield being untinted...

Glad to hear after giving it a few days, you're happy with the tint

I'm surprised you have the windshield NOT tinted. Even though Colorado law states that the front windshield can not be tinted, I had it tinted at 70% which is not noticeable. I thought since I was paying for the upgraded heat resistant tint on all the other windows, why have one that wasn't. Kind of cool that it really cute down on the need for sun glasses

How did your tint turn out around the dot matrix area in front of the rearview mirror?

How are you feeling about the color difference in your windows?

Hello! I'm in the DFW area and just purchased a 2008 LS 460. Do you have a recommendation for a good tint place? Thank you!
