Default New Member with a parts question

Hi,

The name is Earl and I am the owner of a 2008 LS. I bought it from a friend about a year and a half ago and it is the best car I have ever owned! I also have a Mercedes SLK and a Cadillac XTS (wife's car) I recently drove the car from Phoenix to Upper Michigan with about 500 pounds in the trunk! (it was packed). I got an amazing 31.6 mpg and I was not taking it easy. Needless to say I love the car. I recently had the issue with the trunk pull down motor. :-( and was shocked at the estimated cost from the local dealer (Phoenix) My question is this - Does anyone have the part number of the "pulldown motor" for the 460 LS? Does anyone know of a source for Lexus parts other than the dealer?

Thanks for your time
Earl

Part number should be 6465050040

Cheapest I found on Ebay is 400 bucks used.

Lexus of Atlanta has them new for 497 dollars here:

I believe the part number for the motor is 85790-50011. This supersedes 85790-50010. I personally would go with 50011 as something was changed with latest part number.

You could try mylparts.com or search online.

Isn't that the motor for Auto opening and closing? I thought he wanted the pull down motor lock.

I thought he wanted pull down motor. May be I am wrong. Any how, motor is darn expensive, new one runs above $900. Is it built with gold and platinum?????

When you have the trunk like mine, it doesn't have the motor that opens and closes the trunk. Mine only completely closes the trunk after pushing down on the trunk to where it engages the latch and then gently pulls the trunk closed. Sort of like old GM's used to have.

The OP will need to clarify. One of us has the right part. LOL

The motor that I am looking for is the one that pulls the lid down the last 3/4 of an inch and locks it. (it is the one with the bad limit switch - it runs thru 5 cycles of trying to lock and then the computer shuts it off and the lid refuses to stay down.) I am now using the key to get into the trunk. I got to that mode by having my wife hold the lid down while I disconnected the battery and re-connected. It started thru the 5 cycles again and while it was locked, I removed the battery cable again. Then I pulled the connector to the motor. After the motor was unplugged, I reconnected the battery. The deck lid stays latched until I turn the key.

Then it looks like the part I quoted you is the one you want. Make sure to double check though. Did the dealer quote you a price?

Thanks for all of the replies. I have not asked the dealer for an estimate yet. But I am sure that I will do this job myself. Took it to the dealer for a recall about the fuel sensor. They changed a fuel pump gasket, did an alignment and replaced the cabin filter-----$652 dollars later I was back on the road.

I'm assuming the fuel pump gasket was the recall. $652 for an alignment and cabin filter is robbery. Sounds like you have plenty of DIY blood. Next time do the filter yourself, and take the car to discount tire for an alignment. There's nothing proprietary about the alignment that Discount Tire (or some similar shop) doesn't see every day.
