Default 2008 LS600h battery pack conversion?

So with the nice weather here I can start driving the SC430 more which lets me think of projects for the 600 that might leave it in bits for a few days or week or so.

I know that in 09 or 10 the 600 got a change to the battery pack that ended up increasing the room in the trunk by about 15 or 20%. I think they changed the NiMH traction battery pack.

Question is - can I swap out just the battery pack or do I need to swap other parts from the hybrid system? Anyone do this before? Was the increase in trunk space worth the trouble?

TIA

Ive had the back of my 600 opened up before and even with a smaller battery it seems like the rear HVAC still takes up a bunch of the space too. I would bet that you would have to change quite a lot and not just the battery just for the extra space. I would love the extra space as well but not sure if it would be that plausible.

I am not sure but i suspect the cells used to gain space would be the same as the ones in the RXs which were 9.6Volts as opposed to the standard 7.2V units elsewhere. It's a pretty good guess that the BCM at least is different also things like the thermistor protection circuit would also be different.
