So when were the control arms redesigned? was it MY2011 or 2012. That's the kind of input I am looking for. Thank you.

I looked into it for my 2011 and it is not definitive but all my research points to 2011 as the year the control arms were redesigned.

I *think* it is 2011 onwards when the TSB's no longer apply to control arms...someone would have to verify that.

I found that bit of data where the TSB stops which is a good indication. I think it would be hard to verify other then to have Toyota confirm it in writing.

Ok its a starting point for me then. I'll look for the 2011/2012 my budget wont allow newer than that. I still think Ill take the 2010 for a ride just to compare it to my 750xi. I think I will be wowed by the difference.

You may or may not be wowed depending on what's important to you. I like my LS but as far as ride quality I find the BMWs ride a bit better. I wouldn't want to own a BMW so the LS was a great compromise .

Good point; my wife is considering a GX/LX....drove a GL450 and the ride in the Mercedes (for her...again it is subjective) was actually a lot better. However, replacing the air shocks in the GL450 was a nightmare to even think about, which leads her back to the GX/LX options.

In her specific instance, the Lexus brand isn't necessarily the "smoothest" or "best ride", however for reliability, comfort and resale value, the Lexus easily edges the MB out. Like Devh said, depends on what is important to you.
