Ahhh, but look on the bright side....apparently we will have the better car and will take every opportunity to make sure their owners know it!! We earned that right...no matter how anecdotal!

Lexus dropped the ball on the 2017 LS 500, it's ugly.

No car should make an electric whine noise like my cordless drill.

The navigation does too many things which means that it's doomed to fail.

The car drives like an overpriced Honda .

My service manager said that the the 460 is the best LS ever made and the new ones are coming in with all sorts of problems.

I'm ready.

And don't forget high rates of failure in the muffler bearings.

But since were on the topic Don't worry, we are all here because we love the 460, I don't think anyone has an agenda to tarnish it or badmouth it just for the sake of it.

There is no conspiracy in the 430 forums to drive down the price of the 460 so we can then trade in and get one, although now that I think about it........

Brb going to the 430 section for a minute

How many on here have owned a 400, two 430's and now a 460?
All good cars but..... the 400's were bullet proof.. The 430's almost as good and now the 460's about average in terms of quality.
My 08' 460L which I bought CPO in 5/2014 has been in the shop more that my other 3 LS's combined.
From Bushings, to Brake Actuators, to air struts.. this car has been a mess.
I guess I'm unique as I compare the 460 to the 430 and 400.... to me; aside from the body style the 460 is no where near as reliable as the 400.

There is an entire thread on air strut failures on the LS430...in fact there are threads on air strut failures of every car make in the world regarding those components, they fail...quite a bit actually.

The control arm bushings are not a big deal if you take the car somewhere else besides the dealership (this is well documented). In fact aside from those bushings I have never heard of other failures in the front end of the LS 460....tie rods, ball joints, sway bar links and bushings. That is unheard of. Unheard.

The brake actuator that you speak of is not as common as you make it out to be.

I drive my LS460 six hundred miles a week, with 96000 miles it still feels like new. It's been more reliable to me than a Honda Accord I used to own. I know at some point I'll have to replace the control arms, or the water pump...or something, but it just doesn't seem like it's ever going to happen. Know what I mean? I drive it hard and it just doesn't seem like it wants to quit...it doesn't let up. It just starts right up and drives perfectly no matter what...it has no memory of the ridiculously long drives I put it through every week. It doesn't realize that my wife and kids are climbing out of this thing every weekend, or that it's stuck in traffic five days a week, or that it drove through the worst Boston winter in history, or that I hit 10,000 pot holes during that period...it just shines and looks pretty every single day. I'm serious.

And that power trunk motor? It has to break at some point, I use it at least 30 times a week, but it just keeps on working. Same thing for the power e-brake...it's got to break, but it hasn't yet.

A quick story about the dreaded LS460...a went out with a friend of mine the other night who owns a euro car repair facility - he specializes in BMW, VW/Audi, Mercedes, and Porsche. He got into my car and told me a story about one LS460 customer he has - the guy brings it there for inspections and maintenance - my friend said he'd go broke if these were the cars he worked on because they don't break. He's done nothing to it besides oil changes and tires. Nothing. Meanwhile the whole night he talked about carbon buildup, timing chain failures, transmission failures and electrical problems with the German makes. He loves them! Makes a fortune fixing them everyday.

I've had one 300, one 400, one 430 and now a 460. Since all of my cars were mechanically sound with little to no problems, for me it comes down to comfort. That means the LS460 is the greatest Lexus of all time!
