If any of you had any doubts about the current LS's status among its piers, here's something to ease your worries.

Thanks for posting this. However, KBB note that the number 2 and 3 positions are held by Audi and Jaguar Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??? Try getting a decent trade in on either car and you'll wonder what they were smoking!!!

Take whatever KBB and consumer reports with a big tankful of salt.
Don't get me wrong I do believe the Lexus by far the most reliable out there but I have seen many reviews from various publications that give some the most unreliable cars for that model year great ratings and then it gets trashed a year later. KBB is industry favored to help dealerships get the most out of gullible buyers by giving people the illusion that it's consumer based research.

Yes but I used KBB to my advantage when trading my LS430 for my LS460! It works both ways if you know how to play the game.

Yes, KBB had its uses as an information source but even that is much more limited now that they stopped providing invoice prices (because of auto manufacturers'/dealers' pressure, I'm sure).

Those invoice prices are rubbish. It's like how the mob has owners of casinos that are fronts for the real owners.
I learned a heavily guarded secrete long ago when I worked for a dealership and seen the actual cost of cars by accident from the general manager of a different dealership that I was asked to DX cars with. The sales man and even the sales manager don't even know and have fake invoice created by the dealerships to make people think they are buying a few hundred over invoice so they can brag to their friends and family how they got the dealership by the *****.
I have seen customers demand the invoice at the dealership only to have the sales man chuckle when they were out of range of the customer.
The only reason a dealership puts up a fight it to see how much more of a margin they can make over what you have already been suckered with.

The problem these days is that you cannot escape KBB industry set prices because too many people use them that you cannot get any kind of deal. It's so bad now that credit unions act as mediators to try and get you the best deal from them which is also another way to sucker you out of your money.

Manheim pricing has the real numbers.. If you know someone with access, be extra nice to them and have them help you with info...that way you'll know what cars are actually being bought for and then work up from those prices. Saved me ridiculous money!!
