Default 2010-2012 LS460 grill change to LS600h grill

Hey all,

I am looking to change out my stock 2010 460 front grill for the 600h grill since it looks better in my opinion. Attached is what I'm hoping for, understanding my headlights are different and I'd use my existing center Lexus logo on the new grill.

I've called a Lexus dealer and they say the mounting screw tabs are in different places on these two grills. Have any of you done this or know if it will work before I spend the money on it?

Thanks,

Jimmy

I don't know the specifics on the mounting points but would have suspected (and was going to mention) that the grilles are different in their overall dimensions.

How do I know?

There are no pre-cut clear bra kits for the 2010-2012 600. When I went to have my 600 wrapped with Xpel film, the plan was to use the bumper kit for the 460 on the upper half of the bumper (which seems the same) and to customize/free-hand the lower half, which is noticeably different.

Well, much to our surprise, the bumpers are quite different, especially in the vicinity of the grille, according to my installer. So, the whole thing had to be free-handed...

In case it helps, I could take some measurements tonight to compare, but again, I'm not surprised to hear what the dealership told you.

-------------

Interestingly, the headlight assemblies appear to be the exact, same size. Go figure!

This swap has been done quite a bit in Japan along with LED headlights , you have the exact same bumper cover as the 2010-12 600hL. I think the grilles can be swapped out with not much modding or none at all.

Unfortunately, bumper is not the same. That doesn't mean it can't be done (I vaguely remember seeing some photos), but perhaps it isn't as straightforward.

Mounting tabs would be easy enough to fad up... the grille isnt load bearing so..I'd go for it... any decent custom audio or bodyshop should have no problem fitting it.. as long as the outer edges line up

I think this picture should shed some light. I had never looked side-by-side.

Outline for 460 grille seems to be a perfect trapezoid; 600 grille curves towards the bottom. The bumper follows this contour. Also, 600 grille seems wider at the bottom (at least based on the location of the park assist sensors, which seem to be - spatially - on the same spot on both cars).

Default 2010 LS460 to LS600 grill thanks

Hey guys,

I truly appreciate the help! It's clear from caha14's info and photos that there's no way the 2010-12 600h grill will fit my car. My next option will be the WALD aftermarket grill, and if that fails, a LS460 Sport grill or maybe the plastic black paint mentioned in other posts.

Anyone want to buy a nice used LS460 standard grill???

Ya'll are awesome! Thanks again.

maybe the plastic black paint mentioned in other posts.
Many have poo-poo'd the Plasti Dip black paint method as "ghetto". I can only say that I did mine nearly a year ago and travel on the freeway a lot, where my car is a magnet for stones and gravel. The grill still looks like the day I applied it and I think others here who have done it, can vouch for it's durability and looks.

+1 to what Roadfrog stated.
I haven't done any PlastiDipping with my LS, but I had a Denali a while back and I plasti'd the grille, the "GMC" emblem (removed the painted portion off of the chrome so that it'd appear chrome and black), as well as the rims. I didn't drive it on the expressway as often as it appears Road did, but I can and will definitely vouch for its look as well as durability. I will also vouch for just how easy it is to remove. Upon selling the vehicle, the dealership had worries about reselling the truck, as it appeared to be very custom and not OEM. I went home that night and removed the plasti dip from the grille, emblem, lights and placed the factory wheels back on the car, It was all pretty painless. I used Goo-Gone for a few tougher spots but all in all, a very easy process.

That's a 600 bumper accompanying that grille, if you look at the "strip" between the grille and headlamps, the opening below the front license plate (more "rectangular") and the fog lights (which are also different). Subtle differences that I can't figure out, but they're there. At least the headlights are the same size and can accommodate the different bumper (mod could be a heck of a lot more $$$!).
