Default Has anyone used these for High beam/DRL's?.......

I've been thinking about putting these in place of the yellow halogen bulbs that are in there now.

They CLAIM to be able to output up to 3000 lumens (which is a bit less than a set of 35w HID's, but still Very bright especially for DRL's), but was wondering if anyone has tried them before dropping 100 bones on them.

Morimoto XB LED's in 9005 for DRL's.............

Please tell me what you think. Thanks in Advance!

Thanks for your input! I'm not so much worried about the length of the beam, as much as the spread. It's kind of like having a spot light compared to a flood light. The spot will give you a more focused beam, while the flood will light more area. Also, the color of the beam being whiter, is easier for my eyes to see, if that makes any sense.

Thanks CJitty! I have actually read that (and pretty much all of the DIY. As a matter of fact, I have that page set to my homepage. ) It's got a TON of good info on it.

I'll go back and look at it again though (and probably find something that I missed)!

High Beam = Long and distant pattern

Fog light = spread pattern (or as you described, "flood").

I think Cjitty stated that the high beams definitely didn't cast a typical high-beam pattern. Not so important in city driving, but won't be of any value on country roads.

Shameless plug here, but I love my DRL mod! It gives the DRL's an updated look and they are hella BRIGHT!! I posted vids with direct sunlight to demonstrate how bright they are. If you hate the yellow/dingy look the 5000K (cool white) will be more pleasing to the eyes.

Wish I could turn mine off, or defeat them somehow. If someone has a trick for Cdn vehicles, let me know.

Thanks, that makes sense!

I did that too with the Carista app on my tablet and one those bluetooth OBDII dongle thingies. Techstream would be Nice to have, but it seems to be quite a bit more software than I need.

I reread your thread last night, after CJITTY posted and it does look promising. The Morimoto's put out 1500 lumens each and have the decoders built in, that's kind of why I was leaning that way.

I might try your way, since it's proven. Thanks for that and for sharing your results. You Guys are what makes this such a Great forum. Cheers for that!

I can't stand Yellow DRL's! That's why I want to change them to something whiter and brighter.

Sorry, but I don't know of any way to help with that.

Yes the techstream software is a lot and you need a super legit obd2 scanner as well. But there's so much that can be done. I don't own it but a fellow car club member of mine owns it. Shoot we even changed my tpms sensors.

We've found that DRLs can't be turned off on Canadian-market vehicles - neither with Carista, nor with Techstream. Does the "CA" in your profile stand for Canada or California?
