Ideas on scoring an LS460 AWD?
Hey Guys,
Regular poster in the LS430 subforum, I own a great 2001 LS430.
Last summer, I loaned my car to my mom while her's was in the shop for its second timing belt. It's a Toyota Highlander that's starting to show its age. She loved it! Who wouldn't love a nice LS?
She wants to trade her Highlander for an LS460 but lives in rural-ish Minnesota so AWD is critical for her (even though I've let her test drive my LS430 with snow tires and she didn't have any complaints but she's an old lady and is set in her ways and needs that AWD badge.
I've done a bit of research and would like to ask the experts a few questions:
Do the 2008 AWD LS460s have pre-MY2010 suspension issues? Do the pre-2010 LS600hls have the issue as well? And did every car get rectified upper control arms for the 2010 refresh?
Are the Mark Levinson amps still problematic? The amp in my 2001 LS430 is the worst. Well it's not actually the worst. But functionally it's not much better than the amp in my Hyundai Elantra and that's no good.
Does anyone have any feel for how to find a good price on an AWD model? Should I go down to Texas to get a car? Do the AWD cars seem to get a little cheaper in Summer?
And does anyone have a feel for what's going to happen when the next-gen LS comes out? I know the LS430's value freefalled after the LS460 came out. Do 2015 LS460's lease residual values reflect the liklihood of a new LS coming out?
And any other tips on finding an LS460?
