Default ML Audio - Button lights

I have a couple of buttons on the ML audio controls that recently stopped lighting up. Does anybody know what all would be involved in getting the lights working again? I assume they are LED and it is much more complex than replacing a couple of burned out bulbs, but is this a DIY type thing or do I need to send off to United Radio or similar? See pics.

Ambrown. You have the exact same two buttons with lights out? Anybody else?

Its been about a year since the lights on my car's DISC/AUX and SCAN buttons stopped working (see OP) and just last night I noticed that now my AM/SAT and FM buttons have gone out. Hopefully things do not continue to progress. Has anyone successfully repaired this issue before?

You are not having actual radio or media issues, so I don't see a need to consult United Radio. The two buttons (now four) appear to share LEDs, which have burned out. IMO, you have three options:
1) You could remove the panels and try to access the infotainment control buttons from the back to see if there is a way to change the LEDs.
2) You can go to an independent automotive AV installer in town. I am sure they have seen similar issues and know how to fix it.
3) You could take the car to the dealer and they may also have a solution.

Good luck!

I don't know about the radio, but I just had that happen to my NAV system -- two buttons stopped lighting up. I took it into the dealer (along with other work that had to be done), thinking that they could just change an LED or fuse or whatever, but they ended up replacing the ENTIRE unit with a brand new one, something like $5000 or more. Thank God for my extended CPO warranty! Although it seemed like such overkill to replace the whole thing, as it was working perfectly otherwise. I would have lived with it if they were willing to split the difference and give me $2500 (not gonna happen I know)

An expensive fix for two small lights.

Honestly? I'd live with it.

Yeah, I wouldn't have spent much more than $100-$200 of my own money to fix it, and would have just lived with it. Especially as it was the DEST and INFO buttons, which I rarely use anyway.

However, the dealer didn't give me the option -- they just went ahead and replaced it. I guess it would be an awkward conversation, given that it was covered under warranty, to ask me if I was okay with not fixing it. Gotta love Lexus though (and/or the CPO warranty insurers) for wanting to make everything perfect.

Hey if its covered then go for it! I had a similar issue on my ES300 and they covered it under the extended warranty and replaced the whole HVAC panel.

Default ML lights

I have a 2013 LS with ML, all four lights are out. I'm not sure they were ever on. Do any 2013 owners have lights?

Yes, the buttons light up in my 2014 LS with ML. There has to be a simpler fix than replacing the whole unit.
