Please help explain the new LS models, price and MPG

They don't, but they give a crap about refinement and image. I would rather drive a technologically advanced power plant that get as much power as a v12 while not reaching that goal using the same technologies as a military truck. This is why Tesla is successful. People buy them but not to save gas. That class want state of the art.

Then why does fhe 600h sell so poorly?

Like most flagships it's not marketed for mass consumption but to show off the state of the art as a exercise in vision. They will usually make these cars in limited numbers just like the LFA and will usually lose money but it helps the brand and what they learn will trickle down to their mass production to be competitive.

Not that its a bad car, its a great car, its just not a $120,000+ car, and the bottom line is that the buying public aren't buying "performance hybrids" in the us. If it doesn't get good press, and it doesn't sell...its not successful. Continuing to do the same thing and expect different results is the definition of insanity, Lexus needs to go another direction. I look for the GS450h to be gone in the lineup once the GS-F is out, and I look for this car to be gone as well for a higher performance LS, not likely a V12, but an LS-F perhaps.

But other flagship vehicles like V12 S Classes, the S63 MB Coupe, get articles and press that talks about what incredible cars they are...every article about the LS600hL talks about how absurdly expensive it is for what it is. Comparing the LFA to the LS600h is a ridiculous comparison, because people are skeptical about the LFA's cost until they drive it, the LFA makes believers out of people...the LS600h doesn't.

The issue is that its not a "Halo" car. I'm a Lexus owner that one day will find his way into the LS, new. But, when I look at the LS...the model I want isn't the 600h. I actually wouldn't want one, I don't care for hybrids. BUT...if I were a Mercedes guy I can look up at the S600 and the S63 and such and say "Wow, I really would like to have a car like that someday".
Lexus needs more halo cars in the lineup.
