Default Sideview mirror issues

Have a 2007 LS 460L. Recently, the driver side sideview mirror went erratic and soon it happened to the passenger side as well. The mirrors' memory function is gone as well. You can set the mirrors to your desired position and, suddenly the mirrors will move out of position. My non-dealership, trustworthy repairman tells me that this is a frequent problem with Lexus. Repairing is going to cost me around $2200.00 which I am going to do. Does anyone have an opinion on whether this is an issue that Lexus should remedy? Would appreciate an opinion.

Previously, I had an ignition switch issue and this blog helped me resolve it thru a Lexus remedy! I am hoping for a similar ending to my predicament, though I feel I may be running out of luck. Thanks in advance

wow wouldn't you want to have Lexus look at this first before you spend $2200?

it may be a simple switch or fuse?

Wow indeed. Let Lexus look at it first.

Yep.....first I heard ever on this forum.

However, I have seen threads and posts on other Lexus forums of the mirrors losing their tension in the spring which causes the mirror to spin around. Most have fixed this at zero cost and their are how-to's on Youtube. Doesn't apply to LS460's.
