Default Never Assume.

Boy am I gullable. When I found my 08 LS460 about 6 weeks ago, they told me the car came with the premium sound system. But I was fine with that because it was the year, color, decent mileage and price I wanted. I never though another thing about it.

Since I don't drive my car a lot ( 2 or 3 times a week), I learn something new each time I push the start. Today we were on the way to a football game. When I backed into my spot, the sun hit the dash and below the CD player on this little strip I saw some words. I had to do a double take. It said Mark Levinson. WTF? Really? So I opened the door, got out and looked at the plaque on my driver speaker. Holy cow it said Mark Levinson.

I HAVE A MARK LEVINSON!!!!!

The ML audio system is extremely awesome and the way music should be heard.

Haha, pretty funny. I have a friend that has an X5. We were riding in her car one day and talking about cars, the topic came around to heated steering wheels and how its one of those things you'd never know you wanted until you had one. She said "Next time I'll get one with a heated steering wheel". Well, I reached over and pushed the button on her wheel that activated her...heated steering wheel LOL. She had the car 3 years before then too.

Thanks all. I guess its the power of persuasion. Since they didn't know the car had the ML, they convinced me it was just the regular sound. My 430 had a ML signature on the front console where it was obvious. So, I just never considered it since I didn't see anything. And yes, I was very pleased with the sound. When I got the car and it said DVD, I popped in a video and the opening surround sound was amazing. I was thinking, "How could a Mark Levinson sound better than this? Lol.

I wanted to be sure I wasn't dreaming about the ML system. I opened the passenger door to look at the emblem on the speaker. Not only was it ML, but the plastic strip covering from the factory was still in place. Insane.

Now you just need to play with those DSP settings and get that system working the way you want it. ....
Sweet indeed.

Far simpler than my BMW was (which actually was cool and had an infinate amount of adjustments). Personally I like lots of treble, so I have that set at almost max (minus one bar). My mid is set two above the middle and my bass is 2 or 3 below max. I have the speakers all set for default - so right in the middle and equal fade and balance. I tried giving more signal to the rear and front, but found that the surround sound effect lacking as a result.

This is a personal taste area and only you'll know what sounds good.....to you.

On a side note, I like my music LOUD. I'll often take it above 50 vol. That ML just does it dutifully and without protest.....no distortion.

Interestingly enough, I tend to move the sound a bit to the rear so that when cranked, I get a good solid sound (or so I think). the bass is pretty powerful so I'm pretty close to level with that. Treb is a couple noticed right and so is mid. I popped in a DVD video with that surround sound THX type beginning and it blows the insides out. Love it even more now that I know it's a ML.
