I know I may sound like a stickler for sound quality but if you heard a properly tuned system it will sound better then manual adjustments. The purpose of an EQ is to correct issues and get the sound to be as flat weighted so you can hear the total tonal range of music. It's no different then tuning an instrument except you cant tune it by ear. In the end it's whatever sounds good to you but if you heard a tuned system done right using pink noise and instrumentation the difference is night and day.
