Default Recall Alert - fuel lines

http://www.post-gazette.com/news/tra...s/201411210179

DETROIT (AP) — Toyota is recalling nearly 423,000 Lexus luxury brand cars in the U.S. to fix fuel leaks that can cause fires.

The recalls affect the 2006 to 2011 GS, 2007 to 2010 LS and the 2006 to 2011 IS models.

Toyota says that the cars' fuel lines have nickel phosphate plating to protect against corrosion. Some lines could have been built with particles coming in contact with a gasket. That can cause the sealing property to deteriorate and trigger fuel leaks.

Toyota says it's not aware of any fires or injuries caused by the problem.

My bet is that your dealer won't know how to handle your call. Usually this recall stuff gets posted to the internet before the dealers are ready to handle it. I'll wait a while then schedule.

well i sent an email to the service rep that normally handles my car, and included the above link.

i also sent a text to the service shop manager, and he is aware, and just sent a text back saying: "The letters are out! Right now it's probably just a visual inspection....I will check on the latest info"

so we'll see what he comes back with!

This was already posted here a couple of months ago.

From what I understand, Lexus hasn't yet implemented a plan of action to address it.

the article that daryll40 posted was dated today, and my lexus shop manager seemed aware of the issue, so hopefully something is being done now...

hey at least they are "going overboard" and not letting people get killed or injured like GM.

they are trying desperately to cover their @$$ and not have to run into a huge problem which is what all manufacturers should be doing.

would you really prefer the Peace of Mind of no recalls to one day get hurt? All manufacturers have these as there is no such thing as a perfect car.

I'm not sure that Toyota is doing/has done anything wrong. We now live in a world where lots of stuff becomes questionable after manufacture. Some of it legit, some not, some gray area. ALL manufacturers have been subject to many recalls. Lexus/Toyota products still rank at the very top of quality ratings everywhere. If you want transportation without a recall, start hoofin' it!

Sorry there are now two threads with the same issue...both started by me! I did something wrong! Perhaps the moderator can merge them?

Exactly. Also, unfortunately for many BMW owners, BMW NEVER recalls anything even when they should for proven issues (too long a list to even start). Ask me how I know.

The more Lexus recalls the better as far as I'm concerned....then I know I'm being looked after.....UNLIKE BMW.

Lexus is aware of the issue. They told me so when I went in for my nav update.

Service Rep replied, and said: "we ill need to do inspection on each vehicle to see if replacement is needed"

i guess i can't complain about a free inspection (normally $100 or so).
