I absolutely love everything about it, although I am slightly bias...

Someone will make a bodykit that de-emphasizes the predator look. There is obviously a market that is untapped with all the Lexus traditionalists. We need to be patient.

I don't like the LS460 in general. It may have been a style leader in 2007 but now it looks like every other car out there including the entry level japanese and korean cars. I don't like the new Lexus "corporate face" RC-F is beautiful EXCEPT the awful spindle grille. I am very happy with my low mileage LS430 UL.
That is only my opinion.

Looking at good car bad car I see LS460 sales have bee lower than earlier model years. Is the new look the reason?

Love my 08 LS460. My 430 was fine, but nothing compared to my 460. Not a big fan of the new 460 model. I'm probably waiting for a total redesign inside and out. No rush as did I mention I love my 08 LS460? ;-)

no, you have to look at economy and other aspects too. 07-08 was prime years for premium flagship sales, just compare with s and 7.

granted, the 13 was another facelift rather than new design (like from mb w221 to w222) where sales shot off the roof, but i vaguely recall sales jumped a bit too?

i think we should compare the sales from 2008-2009 to 2013-2014 as the economy hadn't tanked in 2007, so sales for all Lexus vehicles hit an all-time high in 2007.

Among many of us who said we don't like the 13+ facelift and prefer the first model year style, I wonder how many actually loved the style THEN when it came out in 2006-7. Or was it one of those things that grown on us when the style had time to sink in and we later appreciate how much it evolved/changed/affected the industry. Then we started to get curious and get interested. I bet many of us (myself included) didn't even consider a LS then, because of one reason or another. Then things changed and priority changed and we get into an LS that we appealed to. I bet the 13+ will catch on to many of us who currently wouldn't want to get "caught dead in it"

I have the utmost respect for each of you guys so i'll say this. The best looking LS is...the one you paid off and parking in your garage. Haha

Sales did not jump up in 2013 and calendar year 2008 was not a good economy, my question stands unanswered

again, compare the sales numbers to 7 and s in 07-08 first, not sure if you have done so. economy started to tank in 08 but it's not until late 08 that car sales dropped off big time

in one hand lexus always suffer in sales over a generation. first 2 years always pretty good but then it drops off drastically over the years. Given this is a facelift, I surely won't expect anything close to when the car came out in 2007. What are the sales numbers for the LS monthly the past 2 years, maybe that will tell us something. While I agree the 13 LS is nothing like a new car in terms of sales, I personally doubt the new look has big effect. If so then one can argue the interior should boost sales

I have done so. Here is the data, there was a huge drop from 2005 (26.0k) to 2006 and again from 2008 to 2009, but 2012 is an all time low with 2014 not shaping up much better, hence my question which is unanswered.

This is for all LS460 models for a calendar year.

2006. 19.5k
2007. 35.2k
2008. 20.3k
2009. 11.3k
2010. 12.3k
2011. 9.6k
2012. 8.3K
2913. 10.7k
2014 YTD 6.7k (10 months data). Annualized is 9.1

The large luxury car segment is down 4% YTD vs 2013 YTD while LS460 is down 22.5% YTD. The big winner is the S class in this segment which is up over 100% YTD. The LS is down the largest % YTD in this segment.

i consider it a little jump from 2012 to 2013 when they sold 2k more units. if you look at 2010 when the first facelift came out, there was a jump of 1k units too. the two scenario are very similar. if we talk about % 2010 jump was 9% and 2013 was actually 29% jump, i think that's a strong statement. if you don't consider these two years' correlation then i think there's nothing more to say.

the trend from 2007 to 2009 explained exactly what i talked about lexus lineup sales numbers (across all models). LS down the largest makes sense when S is completely new (and honestly, blow everyone out of the water) and 7 is on new generation too. among the 3 the LS is simply not the most desirable option anymore when it comes to "the latest and the greatest". it's simply silly to expect 2013 to pull anything like 2006 to 2007 because this is a facelift not a redesign. the 2014 again fully follow the usual lexus sales trend, something i have always complained about (compared to mb and bmw)

your question will never have an answer because no one can say for sure period. we can only deduce from numbers and to me it's somewhat there already. the 2013 doesn't sell bad for a facelift given the typical lexus sales trend. and as much as one can complain about the exterior front end, i think more people will praise about the interior

Good points, I'm new to the LS460 world. I focus heavily on having bsm to the point where I would not consider a car without it. So the LS was not on list of cars to consider until the 2013 models. I like the looks fine, I think the rear end is a little boring and don't mind the spindle grill on my black car. Since reliability is a major requirement too I didn't consider the BMW or Mercedes. I agree completely on the interior design, mines in black too with the black shade wood. I love the way it drives and looks from the drivers seat and really.like the interior size on my LS 460 L. I have all wheel drive as well but haven't been in snow or ice or wet roads yet to experience it.

I know one can't devine the reason for lower sales with certainty. I was surprised at how little of the pre 2008 and earlier sales level has come back. The years earlier than 2006 were even more robust for the LS product
