Default Rear Bumper Applique

Our 2010 LS 460L originally came with a rear bumper applique installed at the port with the trunk mat and cargo net. When we purchased the LS in July it had none of these items with it. I have since bought a new cargo net which I use all the time and a new trunk mat that I got Lexus of Omaha to give it to me at cost. The one remaining item is the Rear Bumper Applique. Is it worth it? I can get a new one on line for $59.

A: How do the look? Do they run the entire length of the bumper sill?

B: How are they installed, glued, is the back sticky?

C: How well do they hold up?

D: Are they Opaque I have 2 small scratch's on the sill (flat surface) and was wondering if this would cover them up?

I had one put on my 2007 LS460 after they came out on the, what 2010? It cost $59 or so, the dealer put it on at no charge (it's sticky transparent plastic, like shipping tape). It held up beautifully - and I used it to rest my feet as I put on/took off golf shoes - and still looked brand new when I traded in the LS in 2012. White car though, see below...

I removed all the appliques on my car as they look faded and worn over time. I'd rather risk a few scratches and abrasions which I can polish out and keep the paint looking newer and shinier than with the coverings. Nothing worse than what to me, looks like saran wrap on my car.

All of the protective film was on my 2011 front, truck, when I bought it. It serves a purpose and it you drive lot of gravel and two lane roads the front mask really protects the front net.

My 2002 didn't have it and over time the road wear, chips and nicks do tend to accumulate. The rear bumper got scratched on my 02 from heavy items being slide in and out of the trunk or being reseted on the lip while fumbling for keys.

Does it look perfect? No. Will it protect the paint ?Yes

When I sell my car in 10 years will I pull it off before selling probably not,as it will not have any affect on the car's value. It just saves me having to have the front and trunk lip repainted.

I solved that problem by hitting a deer last week.......

Just installed this myself. Not too difficult. I did have a copy of the TIS directions to follow which the eBay seller provided to me. I installed it for protection but do like the look of it also.

I purchased it from an eBay seller last year. This is a Lexus OEM accessory by the way.
