They switched to the Avalon in 2013, it added a couple more inches to the wheel base and overall length. It's why I have a bit of a hard time telling the difference between the LS and ES now, The only way I can tell - at a fast glance - is the ES has dual conventional exhaust pipes and the LS has the ports that come out of the rear bumper (which I like a lot better).

I agree with this. For me those big luxo barge should exude an effortless presence, not trying to look even bigger with overdone styling. The LS needed more thought than just slapping the new grill to make it look like part of the family.
