I get 18 to 20K out of ANY tire on my LS, just like the warning window sticker said when I bought the car. If you got that much out of just 2 sets, you're doing well!

Well, get the alignment done, get the before and after readings and, unless the car is WAY out of alignment, this should not be causing undue wear. You can usually tell by looking at the tires if there truly is a mechanical cause (shocks, alignment, wear, etc).

What?? You serious? They should be changed now! Especially with a car this heavy. Rule of thumb is 1/8th of an inch is minimum thickness on a pad (or if the pad is the same thickness as the backing). The second half of brake pad material will not last anywhere near as long as the first half because it is thinner and won't be able to dissipate heat as well.

I think with a car this heavy and with the front suspension it has you can expect excessive wear.

If those bushings are bad it will throw off the camber adjustment in this car, excessive positive camber will cause outside edge wear and a pull in that direction. Negative camber will cause the inside edge to wear and cause it to pull to the other side.

A thorough pre alignment inspection needs to be done to check those bushings, ride height, tie rods, etc. Don't forget that a lot of these higher performance tires are a little on the soft side as well...and tire pressure is crucial in tire wear prevention as well.

Well you got me to look up my records to check the mileage on my tires.

The Turanza EL42's that came with the car new lasted to 23,277.

I replaced them with Pirelli P Zero Nero and they lasted to 52,769.

I replaced those with Continental PureContact with EcoPlus. I now have 77,000 miles and the tires look really good. Even the DWS indicator still shows capability for snow. However, I would go back to the Pirelli's because they were better for wet traction.

As a side note since I was looking at my records, I got my Akebono Pro Act ceramic pads at 44,236 and they look great. Best money I ever spent on car maintenance!

Original equipment tires spec'd by Lexus are notorious for wearing rapidly. It's not uncommon for the OEM rubber to only last 20k mi.

Turns out there are varying grades of what appear at first glance to be the same tires. Search this forum and tirerack.com for the whole story. I don't recall why there's a difference, but it wouldn't be surprising if it were a cost thing. Duh.

I don't know what the dealerships stock - the good stuff or crap. Since I've lived this before, I do my due diligence and go through a local Discount Tire store.

Of course, keep an eye on the specs - tread wear rating, tread depth, etc.

Some folks benefit from high-perf / fast wearing tires while it's lost on others. I suspect we all know who we are.

It maybe hard to be believe but the OEM tires are generally specific for the car. These tires are only available from the dealership.
Bridgestone or other brands will get actual specifications from the manufacture and they will tweak the tire specific for the application. It will be different then exactly the same tire you would buy from the TireRack or Costco. There is a way you can tell by the markings on the tires. Usually these tires will be softer or stiffer and my have a different compound that is built around the characteristics of the car.
Frankly I don't see what difference it makes and why they would go though the trouble to design a very specific tire for this car when most other tires of a similar size would work just as well.

Like others have said tis a heavy car and will wear out tires quicker. Also suspension that is not aligned correct or worsen parts will have an adverse affect on the tire wear.

If you want a higher mileage tire I would suggest you look at tires with a higher tread wear raiting. Just be prepared to pay the price when it comes to handling & breaking performance. There is a balance between handling and tire life.

Last comes my critism of people complaing about the price of maintenance on vehicles. If someone doesn't like their cars maintenance cost they should buy something more economical. A honda civic can get 4 decent tires for around $300 installed. They will last 55,000 to 60,000 miles. BUT the trade off is you will not be in your nice Lexus. As the old saying goes you've got to pay to play.

I really can't complain too much about maintenance cost because I've had a $8,800 repair bill for sensors, hoses & a rack and pinion on my sports car. I'm lucky to get 10,000 out of a set of tires & they run about $900 a set. Sportbike I spent $2400 on 5 sets of tires my first year of riding. Average life of 2,400 miles a set & they were bald on the outsides from hard cornering.

Oooooo. Better have the front brake pads replaced before the sensor goes off. It's $150 to replace the sensor alone. They usually go off around 3mm.

Are there any kind of pads that you guys recommend? Are there any that don't have as much dust?

It's $150 to replace the sensor alone. They usually go off around 3mm.
Just another reason to avoid the dealer. They're 10-13 dollars on Ebay.
