Need your Opinion
Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a 600 and have it narrowed down to 2 vehicles.
Vehicle #1 2008 black on cashmere CPO with only 38k miles. With executive seating II. Beautiful car but the dealer won't budge on $46k price. Low miles notwithstanding, I think it's a bit overpriced to market.
Vehicle #2. 2010 black on black. Non CPO and 68k miles. Ask is $42k.
Analysis. 2010 updated NAV AND my number one choice for color combo. Ask seems right for 2010 with those miles. I'd be settling for the color combo on the 2008, but I would love the exec seating package. Also, 38k miles for an 08 And CPO....NICE. Downside is the goofy dealer has had this car on his lot since June and won't budge on price. Too bad he has fallen in love with this car.
Thoughts?

Why not just go a couple of years older? You'll save 20k for the same car. Find one with low miles that has been well cared for...they look the same, they have the same drivetrain, they drive the same...find a southern car without a spec of rust underneath and you're basically getting everything.
When I was looking for one I found that these cars are driven by people that baby them and take care of them. Makes sense seeing how they were 70-80k dollar cars.

Your choice should be #1 since it's your favorite color combo, COP, low mileage and options you are looking for. It might be a little overpriced but don't settle for just any 600h just to save a little. Get the one with the options you want and you will be happier.

He said #2 is his favorite color combo.

2010 has updated instrument display and (I think) a larger trunk. The reliability of these cars is so good that CPO has less value (since you may never use it). Someone else on here has experience with getting a dealer to certify a car, I think it required the dealer to buy it and then do the inspection to certify it (with an agreement to sell to the person arranging the deal, of course).

I would go for the 2010 personally.

I think I'm going to try negotiating a deal on the 2010. It really is almost a push. I think what tips the scale is a dealer who'd have a car on their lot for nearly a half of year and not want to budge from their ask.
I've checked the service records on the 10 and they were performed pretty consistently. Black on black...yeah, I think I'm on it.
Talked to a salesman today and the 10 has been on the lot for 75 days (not a Lexus dealer) at 90 days then they'll wholesale it. He says that they are offering it below what they purchased it for. (Not sure if I believe that)
If they don't get current asking price they will wholesale it at auction. I have a client who's an F&I guy, so I'll get a solid wholesale value tomorrow before giving them an offer. If true that they are upside down, I'll offer their asking price. Can't imagine that they would take a car in and be that far off though.
Any other thoughts? Thanks for your thoughts so far.

I paid $42K for a 2008 LS600hL in July of this year. Had 60K miles, was a CPO 1-owner with all service records, and it was the color combo I wanted. I probably paid too much, but I LOVE the car, and the miles don't seem to have hurt it a bit (still looks/drives like new).

If we're talking about the same 10 ls600 in Thousand Oaks, ca. They countered an offer I gave them with 41k. I think the reason why it's sat so long is because its been in a wreck. Even though it wasn't a total loss a wreck is a wreck I guess.

Yes, it is the one in Thousand Oaks. The carfax only showed that it was in an accident so I had my insurance guy pull a clue report. It showed the accident and based on the payout was minor. I'm going to wrap up the deal tomorrow.
