2010 LS 460 vs 2010 LS 460L
I had a chance to drive our friends 2010 LS 460 AWD SWB on a 1600 mile round trip over 5 days last week. Took it from Bella Vista, AR to Columbus, OH for the Ohio State vs Ruckers football game. We had taken our 2010 LS 460L on a 4000 mile plus round trip in July/Aug. Our 460L has the back seat upgrade. The 460L beat the 460 in MPG by at least 3 miles per gallon. While the 460 has the adjustable shocks and height adjustment options the 460L which does not have these options rode better. There was very little difference in the handling between the two and from the driver comfort level they were about the same. However the DW who rode in the back seat the entire way said it was not nearly as comfortable as our 460L primarily from a leg room stand point and the ability to adjust the incline and head rest on the seat. We turned 29,000 miles on the car about 40 miles from arriving home yesterday. The 460 has a slightly larger trunk which we needed as we had the need to haul a wheel chair folded down and luggage for 4 people. The DW and I had 1 small bag between the 2 of us while the other 2 ladies had 2 bags each plus coats. I am guessing this 460 might come on the market next year and I have first shot. It's in service date was 29 September 2010 and it now has a 4 year 75,000 mile warranty extension from Lexus.

Thank you for the posting, I currently have a 2007 L and was thinking may be I don't need an L the next time around and save some money, but I think I will stay with my L for as long as possible.

The 2010 LS460 is an AWD version which is predicted to get at least 1 MPG less than a non AWD version and in this case it was at least 3 MPG. I drove our 2010 LS 460L over to Tulsa today to get the Nav updated to the 14.1 version and got 28.6 actual running mostly 70 MPH

The 460 is nice but the 460 L is a upgrade that offers more standard features. The are both quiet, smooth and comfortable and I agree the 460 L rides better. The 460 L offers incredible leg room and more space. I thought my '10 460 L was nice, quiet and smooth. I had a chance to drive a 600h L and it gives a new meaning to quiet and smooth. It's the ultimate LS.

Longer wheel base cars do by default ride better and they are exactly what sets it apart from other so called luxury cars. However they take a big hit in the handling department but who cares about that.
