Default Newbie Needs Advice 2009 v 2010 600h L

First, hello everyone. I have been reading up on this site for about a month, having convinced myself that I want to upgrade my 2001 Ford F150 Supercrew to a Lexus 600h L.

I have narrowed things down to a 2009 and a 2010 model. Both cars are really clean, have between 65 and 70 thousand miles, and about the same options. The 2009 has the executive seating in the back, but two thousand more miles. I like the color of the 2009 a little better, but the 2010 is fine with me too.

My question, assuming that the options and mileage are pretty much the same, how much more is the 2010 worth than the 2009? I know this is a somewhat subjective question, but I figure there are some objective facts to consider in making this call.

I noticed that the dash is updated on the 2010, and the battery pack has been revised, allowing for more trunk room. Are there other things I should be considering.

My plan for the car is to keep it for a while, if it is nice enough, and not a major maintenance problem. I don't trade cars often, and will probably continue to use my truck as my daily driver.

Thanks for any advice.

Personally, I love the dash in the 2010, but given the situation you mentioned, I would get the 2009 with Executive seating. The rear seat will wow passengers. But that is my personal opinion.

I agree, I vote for the executive rear seats, they are too cool to pass up.

Sorry to thread jack but was the executive rear seats only available for the LWB?

Do they come standard in all LWB's?

Thanks

No exec seating in the SWB. Also, exec seating makes it a 4 seater, not what I wanted!

Executive Seating is a very cool feature, no question about it. I am, however, very partial to the 2010 refresh, so unless there is something wrong or the price makes no sense, I would consider the 2010.

What color is it, and what other options does it have (radar cruise, LKA, etc.)? What are they asking? I've been watching the 600hL market for a while, and if I can share anything helpful from the lessons learned during my purchasing process, I'd be happy to do so.

This is a hands down easy decision, go with the exec. seating ( i have it in mine and its a lovely feature that really stands out) lol. The refresh on the 2010 dash is extremely attractive and the revision of the battery pack give a lil bit more trunk space but nothing ground breaking. My advice is to go and seat in the rear of the 09 and enjoy a shiatsu massage with the seat reclined back and i bet you will forget about the refresh 2010 dash ,lol. I know that i enjoy mine every time i get in.

I would go with the 2010 600h L because it's newer. The 2009 and 2010 are both loaded to the max with all the bells and whistles. The executive seating would be great but often never used by rear seat passengers, plus it reduces seating space. They are both Lexus automobiles built on the pursuit of perfection. You can't go wrong.

Thanks for the input guys. The 2009 has 2k more miles, but is 6k cheaper than the 2010. I wondered if the 2010 refresh is worth the extra 6k, especially since the 2010 does not have the executive seating package.

The 2009 is the smoky mica granite on tan interior. the 2010 black on black. Again, both nice cars, almost as nice as my f150.

I personally prefer the grey/tan color combo. However, the luxury limo standard is black on black! Black leather is also a little easier to maintain when it gets old than the (very) light tan. Either way, pick what grabs you and enjoy!

A couple of things to keep in mind... The Executive Package cars come with 18" wheels, which for 2007-2009 are ugly (IMHO - had them on my '08). The non-executive has 600h-exclusive 19" wheels. Also, cars with the upgraded rear seat (which most 600hs have, though not all) offer massage, and the rear seats recline a bit, even though there is no ottoman.

Thanks. This makes sense. The 2010 has the "Premium Luxury Package II," which list reclining seat and massage. I was wondering about the ottoman.

All boils down to whether I pay the 6k extra for the 2010.

Hard call.

If the 2010 is well equipped and in good condition, and if the 2009 is priced right, the 2010 should easily be worth a few k more. I seriously have been watching for a long time, even after buying mine in July, and it's been amazing to see how some cars sit and others move immediately. Feel free to PM if I can help.
