Sorry but I have to ask , how many of you are still HAPPY with your LS460???

I've posted here before, but I will repeat. My 8 month fling with a 2010 460L was an absolute disaster. I should say 7 months, since it was at the dealer for over a month one time while they flew someone in and pulled the entire engine out of the car. Hate to even think what that bill would have been outside of warranty. In the end, it was back to a 430, which I love. Absolutely no regrets in going back.
And while I understand that all models of every make has lemons, the service department at my dealership and several other dealerships flat out told me that the 460 is more problematic than the 430. Not one had a lot positive to say about the 460 other than it was newer and updated, while all of them spoke very highly of the 430. Hopefully, Lexus will get back to what made the LS great instead of trying to out **** the Germans.

I've seen water pumps typically leak on domestic and asian cars at about the 50-60k mark. That's pretty much normal. One of the reasons is that peeps don't keep their coolant systems flushed. It's hard on the shaft seals. I know, I know, we have that 100k coolant now...yeah...well that's what they say allright. I still believe "an ounce of prevention equals a pound of cure."
Many cars spec the water pump as a maint item for replacement at 60k- Honda & Toyota were typical of this for many years and they may still be.

One of the reason I waited so long to move to the LS460 was because I heard the same thing. My dealer said the LS 460 was having reliability problems like its German counterparts. However, my dad purchased the LS 460 last year and I made the move a month ago. So far so good for the both of us.

the main problem im finding ,,which is the worst problem to have ,,is engine problems ,,whether its the valves, or hesitation, ive even heard of a few people needing new piston rings, they need to have the engine computer reprogrammed and reflashed .
Some people complaining about piston slap etc... idk man ,,,doesn't sound like lexus anymore

Every car forum I have visited and I have been on many has their share of engine related problems. Some get lemons, the majority do not.
What is really missing is that people are not going to enthusiastically start threads about how great their engine is running. You need to weigh the good with the bad and there is plenty of bad on the 430 part of this forum to make me hesitant of buying a car that overheats.

That's just the first five pages of the 430 forum.
Look, at the end of the day, the 430 and the 460 are both incredible vehicles and FAR more reliable than any other luxury marque. Maybe the 460 has more concerns because of the ten-fold increase in technology over the 430. The same could probably be said about the 430 over the 400 in terms of reliability vs technology.

Exactly. And that's my point. The responses and posts will end up being carbon copies of those here on the 460 forum. The 460 owners will steadfastly defend here and the 430 owners will do the same there. It's all good! At the end of the day, I could not be in a 430 because of the esthetics and significant drop in tech wizardry, for the sake of a marginal increase in reliability....if that even applies (which I'm not convinced exists).

Oddly it seems as if there is a great concern by some 430 owners to remind us of our problems.
If you read that section of the forum in regards to the 460 it makes it seem the 460s are always in the shop because of some kind of engineering disaster. Then they wait like vultures when a person has a problem on this section to post how trouble free their 430s are.
It seems like the 430 is only legendary as long as you don't look behind the curtain or literally under the hood.

Glad I'm not the only one here who sees it. My thing is, if you wanted the 430, then be happy with it. No need to go around to another forum and constantly say how many problems there are with the 460. If you don't want it, then go back to the 430 and stay there for as long as you can.

So are you saying that all owners of the 430 have no engine related issues.

For the record , NO, the ls430's do not have the engine problems that the ls460 seems to be having, and that's just the reality whether you like it or not.
To compare the 3uz to this ls460 engine is no comparison at all, and im not even going to get into it at this point, you guys want to get defensive then go ahead, im just hear to try to learn what I can.
WHOAH! Careful pal.....haven't you heard? There are NO issues with the 430! LOL.

By your own posts and testimony you've resorted to using 'snake oil' gimmick type fluids in your engine with the hopes that it solves your hesitation and depleting oil issues, and in my opinion you should be furious about it and how Lexus has done nothing.
Lexus itself doesnt even seem to have any answers as to why its flagship engine is malfunctioning , and its wrong to jump on us for speaking about it .
