Default First-time Lexus owner with a 2009 LS 460

Hi everyone,

I just bought a used 2009 LS 460 with 73k miles on it. I'm a novice DYI'er and have relied on discussion forums and service manuals to maintain my previous cars. Since the LS 460 doesn't seem to have a readily available service manual (e.g., Haynes) I predict I'll be relying on this community quite a bit.

Before I start posting technical questions I'm going to read the stickies and my manuals. One general question I have is for other LS 460 owners. How do you like your vehicles? Knowing what you know now would you buy the same car again? I'm pretty thrilled with my LS 460 so far and I'm looking forward to Lexus' reputation for reliability.

Thumbs up

Congrats on Lexus LS. I'm proud of my LS 460 and it's been the best vehicle I've ever owned. Lexus reputation of comfort, reliability and dependability measures up. When I decide to purchase another vehicle, it will be another LS. Your LS will keep you thrilled. Welcome to the club.

Pictures don't seem to be loading........

I love my 460, but next one will either be a 600hl or depending on when i buy, a 2013-2014 S550 WITH A WARRANTY. Lexus needs to make some big updates with the next refresh to stay in the game.

I really like my '07 LS460. I'd love to buy my mother's '13 LS in a few years. These are luxurious, good driving cars without being overtly ostentatious, which suits me just fine.

Welcome wayman28

We have only had our 2010 LS460L since July but have already taken it on a 4,400 miles trip. You are going to Love the way it rides and handles. The MPG was way better than I hoped for especially given the fact that you burn premium fuel in these cars.

For a manual, you really can't beat ALLDATADIY. Here's the link. It's about 26 bucks for one year and annual renewals are only 9.95
http://alldatadiy.com/buy/

It comes with all the repair and maintenance info you need, TSB's, etc in an online format, which allows you to print every procedure with all the pictures. A bargain and invaluable. Many professional shops use them because it gives labour and parts estimates for each job.

Welcome to CL and if your half as thrilled as I am with my LS which I purchased in January, you're in for a pleasurable owner experience.

Thanks roadfrog. That's very useful. It didn't take long for this forum to start helping me. I'm really encouraged by all of the testimonials in this thread so far. Keep them coming.

Congrats on your LS. I live my 2010 LS460L. I don't think I'll ever drive anything else. For maintenance, check out YouTube as well. I found several videos when I changed my brake pads and rotors. I definitely recommend following the threads in here. I do and I've never learned so much about a car I own.
Enjoy your ride!!!!

Soldier76, I'm on it. I've only had my LS 460 for three days and every time I get out of it to walk away I stop, turn around and just stare at it for a few seconds because I think it's such a good looking vehicle. I'll gladly take some pics to post. Stay tuned.

Oh, I definitely can attest to the staring at my vehicle when I get out and walk away part, cause I'm still doing it after a month of ownership.

Perfect. Same color as mine. You can look at mine to see what yours will look like with 13% tint, and I plastidipped my front grille.
