Default Finally took the plunge on 460L :)

Coming from ES, GX to LS world. Purchased 2012 460L (black on tan) with 31.5K miles. It is still left with two full year manufacturer warranty. After that, I will get Platinum warranty from Lexus/Toyota. It still has new car smell.

This LS loaded with following options;

- Adaptive Air suspension with VGRS
- Pre-collision
- Radar cruise control
- ML Audio / DVD
- Advance parking guidance
- 19" wheels

All three models that I own now, never test drove them before purchasing!. For ES, I traded 99 to get 00 brand new from the dealer, thus never felt the need of test drive. GX and LS were purchased from FL without seeing the car. CL and other online forums/articles helped me identity what I want. Thanks guys.

I purchased this from Pal Harbor Honda and very pleased with their service. Quite frankly, I didn't expect that kind of a service from Honda dealership. Then I had this car shipped to NJ in a closed carrier at very reasonable rate. If anyone needs a recommendation, please PM me. Car was picked up and delivered on time without a single mile added to the odometer or damage.

After the purchase, I took care of below things;
- Replaced engine and cabin air filters
- Install WeatherTech digital fit mats
- Synthetic oil 0-20w and drain and fill of brake oil by Lexus
- CQuartz UK paint sealant (did scratch removal and polishing - see below)
- Installed XPEL door still guard

I wanted a black exterior with tan interior. But was concerned about swirl marks. To my surprised, this car didn't have that may swirl marks. Most visible ones are on the front hood. I used
Meguiar's G10307 ScratchX 2.0 Meguiar's G10307 ScratchX 2.0
to remove swirl marks. It worked like a magic. At least in my case, it could able to remove the swirl marks. Then I did polishing using
Meguiar's G19216 Ultimate Polish Meguiar's G19216 Ultimate Polish
. I should've done Meguiar's Ultimate Compound polishing in between but didn't have it in handy thus skipped that step.

After polishing, I did apply CQuartz UK, waited 30-45 minutes to give a second coat. Waited another 30 minutes to finish up with Reload (1:1 mix with water due to dark color). I am happy with end result. It took more time than what I expected but the outcome was good. Time will tell its longevity.

After so many readings, I still have some questions;
1. Can I add LKA since it didn't come with driver monitor module in the steering wheel ?
2. Is there any blind side monitor side mirror available for pre 2013 models?.
3. Has any one used retractable sun shade, any recommendations?. Eg
this one this one
.
4. Car door have soft close, doesn't have to bang the door to close it. Bring the door close to the body and leave it, I hear motor sound and it pulls the door in and closes. Pretty neat. My question is, if I close the doors in traditional way, will this motor be still used?. I didn't hear any sound being activated. I am concerned about that motor's longevity.
5. On the same token, is there a way to stop front seat being pushed back when turning off the engine?.

Over all I am very happy with this car. I still love my ES (230k miles) and drives like a new car. I continue to use ES as my daily driver. Not sure, LS will match that reliability.

Time for some pictures:

Nothing looks better than black when clean and shiny. Which is why I buy silver cars - too lazy to keep them clean!

Amen to that, but also love the look of silver cars as well. It brings a sort of Majestic Power to the car when clean. It truly does shine without having to put much effort into washing it. That's why I need to find a wax to bring out my silver like satiger's car. The black color looks wet, and truly give the car a more commanding presence. That's exactly what a Lexus is suppose to look like.

Congrats! I also just picked up a 2007 460L with 59k in pristine condition as well. Mine is black with black interior. I'll be lurking around to see if any of your questions are answered since I would like to know as well.

Congrats! She's a beauty...I admire your restraint in daily driving the ES with that LS in your garage. I'd have a hard time doing that!

I don't have an LS but can answer a couple of your questions:

1. Soft close doors. if you slam the door and it positively closes the motors are not used. The motor is only activated if you pull the door in but fail to slam it shut. Not like the old trunk motors on my dad's Lincolns that would jam if you slammed it. I remember him jumping out to tell parcel pick up guys not to slam the trunk!

2. Moving drivers seat. My 2013 GS does this as well, theres a setting in the personalization menu in the nav system to turn off the easy exit seat and/or the power tilt away wheel. If its not in the menu the dealer can certainly do that or you can do it yourself with the Carista app if you have an Android phone.

I would think adding LKA/BSM would be cost prohibitive.

Hope that helps!

First congrats on a very nice LWB!

I will address your questions..

1. Can I add LKA since it didn't come with driver monitor module in the steering wheel ?

Do a search and I believe someone did prove it can be done.

2. Is there any blind side monitor side mirror available for pre 2013 models?.

I have not seen anyone attempt add this feature.

3. Has any one used retractable sun shade, any recommendations?. Eg this one .

Sorry can't help you I park in garages 95% of the time.

The auto door closing motor only engages when it detects the is ajar, closing it normally will not affect the motor.

5. On the same token, is there a way to stop front seat being pushed back when turning off the engine?

On 2010- Plus you can access the "Vehicle Customization" menu and turn off the feature yourself without going to the dealer. This is also true in my wife's 2012 RX, I took some screenshots for you to follow below.
