In two separate "tests" it appears the traction control kicks back on after a certain amount of wheel spin. Maybe this is tied to speed?

These "tests" are really just me wanting to drive like an idiot once in a while (hey, I paid for it, so I can drive it like I want to). Both times, it allowed a nice 4 wheel drift (immediately after a car wash, wet tires, etc) and then the trac control kicked in...once there was a bit of a clunk when it engaged.

No biggie really, but I would prefer to have "off" truly mean off and not be restrained.

have you tried press and hold the TRAC button for a while?

With ABS, VSC, and traction control all working together it may be hard to tell if the TC is really disable.

While in park, hold down the Off button for like 5-7 seconds and you'll see it turn off. Contrary to popular belief in this thread, it goes off. It does not correct a drift, or do anything once its off.

Not saying I've done it, but I have read online that you can get a nice drift going around a corner or two. It has more than enough power to cook a set of tires.

Same with the 430. But it only takes 1 second. You cannot disabled the computer from controlling the throttle body. That's why you can do burn outs and throw her around a corner but then the computer takes over and it's over...

I must respectfully disagree. It does NOT take over once it is turned off. You can do anything you want at that point without interference from the computer or its systems.

It has to be off. If you only press the button for a second, it only turns it off until the vehicle reaches 40mph or something like that. When you hold it off and it goes off, you can do whatever you want.

No, it takes over once it detects the car is sliding sideways and the wheels are spinning. The computer will kill the throttle. You can't really drift any LS. Not more then a few seconds straight. You cannot fully disable the traction system.

Guess mine must be the only one in the world then. Cause it doesn't do anything if it's turned off. And I know because I have done it.

i've been able to hold down the button for about 5 seconds until a message shows up on the dash saying: "Trac Off" and the exclamation point in the orange triangle pops up.

it definitely turns off.

I confirmed this tonight on a rain-slicked road. I fish-tailed and lit up the tires and the trac control remained disengaged. If you only hold it down for a couple of seconds, the orange symbol in the right side of the displey comes on for a short time. If you hold it down for several more seconds, that same symbol illuminates and then the orange exclamation point on the LEFT hand side of the display illuminates, indicating that the trac control is indeed off....and stays that way until you depress the trac button again (briefly), or turn the engine off. You will then have to repeat the process when restarting the engine.

I think we have a winner. When you just press the button you get the "Trac Off" in the center. When you press and hold and you get the Trac Off AND the slippery when wet orange icon. I want to apologize to my tires in advance for my hooliganism when it rains next.

On a 2013, pushing it once while stopped (or under a certain mph) turns traction control off, pushing and holding it while stopped (must be stopped) will disable trac and VSC which is the vehicle skid control which you all probably know. FYI if you have PCS, disabling VSC fully will also disable pre-crash brakes. It is all reengaged once you touch the button once, or turn the engine off.

Ha! True, but I feel a little less bad about the damage when wet....right or wrong.

Also, I will be having a lot of fun in the snow now as well!!!
