LS 600hl vs LS 430

I really want to check out the LS600hL's ride for myself sometime. I heard it was much better than the LS460L.
My 05 LS430 UL came with the OEM 18 inch wheels and the ride was pretty smooth but it wasn't as impressive as the LS400 was. Then I got an 02 LS430 base model with OEM 16 inch wheels and it is the smoothest car ever. It's so smooth and relaxing that I feel like I'll fall asleep.

MY old LS 400 was a million times more comfortable BUT it also had 16" wheels which meant a lot of tire for absorbing those potholes. My LS 460 has 18" wheels so I feel a lot more. It seems as they increase the wheel size with each new model, the comfort level goes down. I'd love to see what an LS 460 feels like with 16" wheels. Probably amazing.

Coming from a 2013 Hyundai sonata Hybrid, I must say I do think the Hyundai does absorb the potholes a whole lot better, but I be so caught up in the vast amount of luxurious features in the cabin that in a lot of ways it does quarantine me from the outside world. Now I can see if your living in an area where the roads are just horrific, then I would completely understand about disagreeing with the harshness of the LS 460 ride.

Involve the driver????? That's code for feeling more bumps transmitted into the cabin and through the steering wheel. Let's call it what it is and stop using cover words like "sporty", "feedback", "driver envolvement" etc. NO! It's a less luxurious, less coddling approach to motoring, and I want absolutely no part of it. I like cocoons of silence that put me on cloud 9 while still being nimble and good handling.

I respect the LS 430 for what it did and for it's times. 10 times out of 10 I pick the 600h L.

04-06 Ls430's came with 17 or 18 inch rim. The ride quality is little difference between the two sizes. The ls460 suspension rates are not the same. It will never ride like a 430. It was designed to be more sporty and hence why more is transferred to the driver.
I would love to own a 600hl but I don't trust that car like my 430. Not without a warranty.

If someone wants more noise and more bumps, then there should be a button for them on the dash that releases a mechanical hand and smacks them!

It's still exspensive to fix, and I don't think you guys who are against the 460 have giving it long term as of yet. Tell me about any other automotive auto maker that has the type of high tech equipment as the ls460 including the 430 that hasn't fell. My car has been trouble free and I would put it up against any 430 with the same package.

Nah, not really. It just mean that Hyundai tuned their vehicles in that certain area to help deal with a particular situation (like potholes). The overall ride quality of the Lexus is far superior of that of any Hyundai with the exception of the Equus and genesis (in which Lexus still beats out but not by lightyears). Every car has its pros and cons. For example my old sonata hybrid destroys the Lexus when it comes to mpg. Its just the LS is tuned for sport and comfort, and on the other hand the sonata is tuned for just comfort. So the engineers at Hyundai decided it could just focus on a floaty soft ride for its driver and passengers, and the engineers at Lexus wanted to give the driver and passengers the best of both worlds.
