Default Warranty question (Platinum is not availabe)

What reasonable options does one have in terms of warranty if buying a 2008 from a private party. I would prefer something that would take me up to at least 100k miles and last at least 5 years from the date of purchase (not the in-service date).

Thanks

The extended warranty used to be available only on preowned cars purchased from a Lexux dealer. The policy was recently changed and is now available on any Lexus up to nine model years old with less than 100,000 miles. I just purchased the 5 Yr. 60,000 mile Platinum Plan on a 2010 LS460L I purchased from a Ford dealer.

Is that something that must be purchased with the vehicle? Or can one purchase it afterwards? Anyone have the info for a contact to purchase?

I did the same thing about 5 months ago after buying a nice car from a private seller - no inspection required but it was expensive (nearly $3000 with tax for 3 years 36,000 miles). My car was a 2007 LS460 with 64,000 miles on the clock at the time.

I've got a feeling it will require control arm bushings soon..........

When I bought mine, I bought the 3 year, 36K miles as well. I would love to extend that to 5 years. Anyone know if that's possible?

*edit I just read the 9 year thing which will most likely will stop that.*

Greg: You can probably cancel the existing 3 year warranty and get a prorated refund and then buy the 5 year warranty. Check with the dealership finance manager where you bought the first warranty. I suspect it's going to be very expensive, though.
