Hi, I am thinking of buying a mint '08 LS 460 RWD car, with only 28K miles, and I am wondering how you find your LS 460 handles in snow in winter in Mass. ? I am in CT.

Holy cow!!! The mileage concerns me. Look for one with lower mileage. If my calculations are correct, that's 33K per year. Wow!!!! Where is the seller driving? Alaska and back several times????

On an LS430, that mileage would not concern me in the slightest, but on the 460's; it's a concern? How much less reliable are the 460's than the 430's?

my 01 had some minor air suspension troubles, and both front windows had nearly blown mechanisms to the point they would roll only half way up some days.
the 07 has had a front right window motor replaced, and i'm having some concern with the fridge right now.
other than that, all good!

The reliability concern of the 460's is real compared to the stellar legacy of the 430's. In the 460 threads you have "oil consumption posts", " control arm issues", "water pump replacements", "ticking engines". Consumer Reports backs this up with the half-red circle for Predicted Reliability for the 07-08, and 2010-2012 years. EVERY Ls before 07 aged with no less than the perfect scoring full-red circle. So the concerns of a high mileage 460 are not imaginary. Toyota is good about addressing problems early, so perhaps the issues experienced in the 07+ don't result in repeat offenses. I hope that is true. That's why I love to hear it when folks like peteybabes report few issues with their Ls460's. Granted they still are quite new, having less than 150,000 miles so the long-term reliability is still being determined. But every bit of information helps. It just dissapoints me that the ONLY year to have a full-red circle for predicted reliability in the 07+ generation, is the 2009 model year. As a Lexus customer, I demand PERFECTION in the reliability department in the same way the previous LS's delivered on that promise. Anything less is unacceptable.

My reason for saying keep looking because he can find one with less miles on it, with same options etc. It has nothing to do with reliability of the 460. I put 149K on my last 460 and only replaced the water pump at 147K and the VSR voluntary recall, she was pretty solid and good to me.
How much was the charge (either customer paid or warranty paid) to replace your water pump at the dealer?

I know the 08 Camry's had a defective water pump. Were the the 07-08 Lexus wp's defective too? On my 04 ls430 (the wp was always replaced with the timing belt, so it never actually "failed" but using my previous 4th gen Maxima as an example, I had over 220,000 miles and still had the original wp. It had a timing chain, so the wp never got replaced. How much was the charge (either customer paid or warranty paid) to replace your water pump at the dealer?
