Default No ECO on 07 LS?

I was discussing ECO vs. no ECO highway MPG with my brother who has an 07 LS 460. He said his does not have the ECO button or mode. On what year did the ECO mode appear? (Mine is a 2011.)

He said that he gets 27 MPG highway, driving 70-75. I told him that is what I am getting with ECO on, but 23 with ECO off. So, it appears that ECO is always on, at least in D 8 gear, on his car.

BTW, is about 4 MPG highway difference about right for ECO vs. no ECO?

My 2007 gets 27 highway if I'm getting on it. At 70-75 on a 250 mile trip I usually can see 30mpg.

I'll only get that on longer drives on the highway. Typically around here I drive about 10 to 25 miles on the highway the the rest on city streets. My average mpg is around 20 mpg combined. I can touch 27 to 30 doing about 70 mph on longer drives

I've checked out some other threads on this ECO mode, and it seems to get about 1-2 MPG better than normal at the expense of delayed throttle response in different model Lexus vehicles in case anyone was wondering if it really did anything.

For real? Injust started shopping around for an LS460 probably 2007-2009 but concerning on the mpg. What is the actual mpg in the city that y'all seen so far? I'm currently own a G37s running 19mpg on average and that is V6 - 3.7

He is rides lowered and on 22" staggered wheels that will eat MPG's. Now the best I could get ridding at stock height on 22" staggered on the a to NC was 24-26.? For that road trip.

Yeah the more highway driving I do the better it is. When majority of my driving is city I'll be lucky to get in the 20s. The best example of what I was able to get on a long drive was San Francisco to Long Beach which is about 5.5 to 6 hours. We were going from 70-80mph. I was getting 26mpg

I am averaging about 17 MPG all city, but I live in a hilly area, which of course makes a difference. I leave ECO off for city driving for the better throttle response.

BTW, previous car was an 06 Town Car. It also got about 17 MPG in the city but only 23-24 on highway. On my first trip in my 2011 LS last December (I bought a CPO) I forgot to turn ECO on and I got 23-24 highway. I felt disappointed since that was the same mileage as the Town Car. But, as I said, with ECO on the mileage improved to 27.

I know that we did not buy these cars for fuel economy. But yesterday I paid $4/gallon for premium (the summer price increase is coming!) so any improvement is welcome.

BTW, driving 80 instead of 70 seems to drop MPG by 1.

I guess I would have to over speed limit all the time to save gas huh? LOL ... Cops are going to love that.

By the way, I was thinking that if my current G gives me almost the same MPG compare to the LS then I rather have my butt sitting on the LS instead. .. Still love Lexus the most

FWIW, I did an experiment a few years ago driving from Pittsburgh to Harrisburg and back via the PA Turnpike. I drove my 2009 LS460 AWD at 55 MPH without the air on air (it was not hot out). I got 30MPG roundtrip. Now I will grant you that this was a relatively flat trip (even thru the mountains of PA, the Turnpike is a fairly level ride most of the way) and I purposely was driving feather lite. And that was on 89 octane "midgrade" gas, too. On a more recent trip from Pittsburgh to Germantown Maryland (outside of D.C. before "the beltway") I got 25MPG going 70, using air, and not particularly paying attention to getting good mileage.

My 2008 LS would routinely get 17-19 around town. However, I will confess that I would drive with mileage in mind. As far as highway driving was concerned, my 08 would easily get 28-30, with the occasional 31. I would usually keep it between 70-75. I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I don't recall having the Eco button on the '08.....don't think it had it.

I recently purchased a 2012 LS with AWD and the Eco. I have only had it about a month, and the around town driving has not been as good....about 16-17.5....still driving very carefully with the Eco on almost all the time. So, a little disappointed in that....but....still soooooooo smoooooooth. I have yet to give it a good highway test, but hoping the AWD doesn't disappoint too much.

I get20-21 MPG combined in my 600hL on 22 inch full chrome heavy rims. City driving is great highway seems to barely do any benefit lol. Best I got sine I got my rims was like 23.5 MPG's. 08 600 has an ECO mode which is pretty much useless because the engine shuts off at certain points anyways.
