Has anyone painted their door handles body color?
Hi everyone,
Just curious if anyone has done this mod? I'm not used to chrome handles and I just realized this is a pretty big difference to other Lexus models. Funny but I was looking at it today and it really seems to show those door handle scratches with its reflection.
Any pics would be cool. Thank you.

I've been thinking about that since I bought mine, but since my car is silver and my rims are sorta matte gray, I didn't want to put more silver on so myself wouldn't mind playing around with a carbon fiber dark grey or black wrap, painting for me would take a lot of taping off, etc to make sure not to get overspray on the panels, etc, unless your sending it to a shop. I guess if you painted it though, upkeep would be very easy vs the wrap, I'm not sure?

I always had the chrome handles on the ES, and when I got the GS I thought about putting those chrome covers on them or something just because they looked strange to me...now that I'm used to it I prefer the body colored handles.
I'd give it some time to acclimate to it before you commit to painting them...

I don't mind the chrome, but would be nice to change it up for a month or so. My beemer and accord had matching color handles and I got used to them. Does anybody know if you did paint the handles, if there's a special type of paint that would have to be used on the chrome. What would be the prep to make the paint stick?

You would just have to make sure that you sanded the chrome down on the handles enough to make sure that the paint stuck. I'd let a body shop do it probably.
On the Jeep forum I post on people have body shops paint the chrome handles on their Grand Cherokees all the time. Costs them like $150 or so.

I'd seen somewhere that somebody painted just the center strip of the handle to match the body color leaving the chrome still visible around the edge. . .
Having trouble pulling it up right now, but it definitely looked badass!!
