Hi!

I have an appointment on Monday to test drive a 2008 CPO with 51K on the ODO. It is a base model without navigation. Before you run me out of the forum for considering a car of this caliber without a navigation unit, note that I am moving to Lexus from a Lincoln Town Car.

I came to the LS460 after wanting another large vehicle with the reliability of the LTC. So, naturally I skipped every other make.

I do have a question on the non-nav unit - is there still the aux feature for my iPod / iPhone? I've attempted to search the forum and almighty Google but haven't found anything.

Also, they're asking $27K. This seems fair based on KBB / NADA, but I was curious how the membership here felt.

Personally I wouldn't buy a car of this caliber that is neutered. I think if you are going to spend that money, get the navigation, get the mark levinson, etc even if it means getting a 2007.

While I don't feel the executive seating is necessary, i would have loved to get it, but don't feel like I'm missing anything. If I would have gotten a 460 without nav or ML I feel like I would regret it at some point. But that is my opinion. I actually keep thinking I should have gotten a 460L but I could't find one in the color combo I wanted.

That's a great deal if it's a new CPO warranty (ie extends the warranty for another 3 years) from a Lexus dealer. As for nav, just use googlemaps on your iPhone/Android, and while I like the Mark Levinson sound system, I could live with the standard,

Non-navigation isn't my preference, but my Cadillac STS had it and it was never used. In regard to the ML, my Town Car has about three speakers and the sound quality of a toaster oven, so I'm sure I'll be thrilled.

The CPO is 3 year / 100,000.

Well it comes down to what makes you happy about the car. This was my first lexus and I have the 08 also, but with the Nav/ML. All the used LS on the lot when I bought had NAV/ML so I really didn't have anything to compare it to. Mine was Hi miles, but after having 4 BMW's and doing research it was the one and I got it for under 23 OTD with warranty. I never use the NAV but the ML system is awesome, oh my especially when my friends ride in the car. You should try to get one with those options if you can, give yourself a little more time in your search unless you need the LS asap, I'd look on craigslist, autotrader and see if you can find better, better price too, set a budget, if I had to do it all over I'd go private party, 20K, pay a friend to do the talking and get a great deal, car of course would have to be in great shape, ie control arms, all maintenance records, no big accidents, etc that's my two cents bro, this economy is still up and down so you may find someone just trying to get out of the LS and looking for cash. Hey, coming out of a LTC you will be over-joyed with this car and won't be missing anything anyway.

As for maps, a good old Garmin/Tom Tom/Phone is going to be a lot better than the Lexus maps and with free upgrades not the $400 they try to get you for updating. . .

As for the sound system, you will still have a powerful 10-speaker system that will sound like a concert hall compared to your toaster oven!

Yeah. Completely agree.

I paid 30 grand (about 27 g U.S.), at a Lexus dealer for my LS with ML, Nav, self-park etc with the same mileage, and that was in Canada. You should be able to get far better deals down there.

No. In Canada, that isn't available on an 08. It was completely gone over by Lexus (compression check, tune up etc), but I was offered a warranty for 2500 dollars (I declined).

Shoot....wish you would have posted about a week earlier as I just sold a sweet '08 with Nav and ML for $25,500. Would have been $27,000 if you had wanted the Platinum Service Agreement that would have been available until 100,000 miles (I am turning that in for a pro-rata refund of about $1500 since the buyer did not want it). My LS had 76,600 miles on it, but was serviced regularly at Lexus and was in awesome condition. The LS you are looking at has much lower mileage, but I tend to agree that if getting such a nice car, might as well have some nice bells and whistles. The Navigation part can be replaced by your phone navigation, for sure, but I did enjoy the ML system with the built in hard drive. If you don't have the Navigation, how about the Bluetooth hands free phone? You MUST have that for this car....it is sweet. The guy I sold my car to really is enjoying the hands free Bluetooth phone set-up. Also.....make sure the LS has the "Hold" feature, one of my favorite options. Such a small thing, but really like that button.

I was approached by Lexus over the last 4 or 5 months with 3 different 2012 vehicles to look at, and it wasn't until they found one with 8800 miles on it that I jumped. People in here might remember my recent post about my hesitancy to move from my '08 to the '12, but have not regretted the move...plus....the '12 was loaded with some nice options. Anyway, just my 2 cents....as someone in here told me, I had come down with "new car fever" and it was useless to fight that off, but, at least I did wait until the right one came along. Patience grasshoppa.

I ended up purchasing the 2008 LS460 as well as a 2013 RX350. Since I did both, I managed to get a nice deal on the pair. Thanks for the help! Will try to post photos when they're cleaned and tinted!

Can you shed any light on what the buyer's thoughts on the warranty were? It's transferable and reimbursable, right? So why wouldn't the buyer pay you the $1,500 for the warranty, then cash it in either immediately (presumably for $1,500) or after a reasonable time period (say a month) to ensure no major issues (like worn control arm bushings or brake actuator) exist with the car. He could then "cash in" the warranty for close to the $1,500 value you received. I don't get it, do you?
