Default 19" or 20" Rims

About to pull the trigger on a new set of rims/tires.I am looking for some opinions on ride quality between 19" and 20" I have a 08 SWB - the car is my daily driver, I do 80 miles round trip everyday which is why I am ruling out 22's. I have snow's on the stock 18"s now and I am really eager to get them off assuming the worst of winter is over in the mid-Atlantic.

If there any members running 20's I would like to here from you, would be particularly interested in those of you that may have come out of 19's.

Thanks.

I run 19's for my summer set, and the ride does have a lot to do with how "high-performance" you go with your tires as well.

I have super stiff side-wall low profile BFG GForces which does a lot towards performance, but makes the ride quite jarring. That being said, not as bad as my 20" set with the same tires i used for my LS430.

As I have said many many times before. .... the entire ride quality issue with 22s is totally exaggerated. My LS felt amazing and was running at higher PSi in the tires. 19s or 20s will just look too small on a car this size. Get the 22s and a set of Michelins and the car will feel great.

I do agree with I8ABMR on the asthetics. Also agree re: ride quality, although I will qualify it by saying I am used to daily driving cars modded with plus size wheels and suspension. I am currently on 22's and daily driven.
I can see if someone not accustomed to it drives our cars with 22's they will think the ride quality suffers. All relative. There's always some degree of trade-off, which can be lessened somewhat by running the highest quality gear.

+1, just need to be running the correct offsets & tire sizes not to rub without mods. If you are lowered, then your window of acceptable offsets is even smaller, and then you may need to do fender mods or/and run slightly diff tire sizes

Yeah but i didnt need it to avoid rubbing. It Has nothing to do with rubbing unless I dump my car..if you are at stock height and wheels with proper offsets you will not rub. In fact..with my setup I can have zero fender gap at level 4 and not rub even with 305 rears

It's all about wheels specs and tire sizes. Even 24s with the right specs can fit without rubbing. .24x10 with 40 offset on the rear comes to mind

Are you planning on lowering your car? If yes, I'd suggest a set of 21 inch or 22 inch wheels. If you do not plan on lowering your car then I'd go with 20's.

No plans on lowering.

I was leaning toward staggered 20's, with Conti DW or DWS.

I do like the look of the 22's especially when lowered but that will not work for me. Ride quality aside, going big also comes with a bigger pricetag and given the consditions of the roads i travel I do have concerns about bending rims.

I was going to say go with 20's if you are going to lower your car because 20's look small with the stock height.
but is150 said opposite. Oh well.

i 'm going to have to disagree... running 20 on a lowered car will make the wheels look even smaller. i have a staggered set of 20's on my car ( my car isn't lowered ) and although i can live with it, i'm going to get a set of 21's very soon.

If I wasn't go to lower the car I think 20" will look good. I'm currently on 22" now and it's nice but the tires are a bit thin for me. So my next set of wheels I'm going to go with is 21" because I will be able to run thicker tires. But the wheels and tires selection are very limited.
