Have fun test driving each car. I've had both and for me it's hands down no contest. My 08 LS460 is the perfect car for me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my 05 LS430, but my dream was to always own the 460 from the day I bought the 430 back in 08. Took me 6 years, and I really wouldn't go back.

Good luck.

Thanks, the LS460 is definitely more "me". I love it.

Default Love my 430

The 430 is very reliable, and the car was designed to look invisible as it does blend in in any situation and I travel urban and rural routes.

Looks:
I still get head turns so I don't know what people mean about the 460 being better looking!! Hell I still get head turns in my 1990 LS because I take care of it!!! And they are not modded they're factory fresh!!

Ride:
It's a true sedan so you cannot compare it to a bmw or a sports cars but it rides very smooth and quick!! Suspension is medium, but I will never take a corner past 15 mph in this car. It is definitely a cruiser only if you want more sportier fell consider a 460 simply for design.

Reliability:
30k on top of the 55k it came with and absolutely not one problem has came up! I perform minimal maitnence, oil change the usual!! So I give the 430 10 stars so far on engine build!! Interior is durable, leather extremely durable!! Easy to clean! Exterior is a tank, absolutely no issues. Easy to wash and maintain its a pleasure to own my 430!!

The 460 is a future buy but I will always keep my 430, it's a truely well built car and if you take care of the maintenance I can see this car going 300+k easy like its predecessors!!

I'm an LS contisseur so every model makes my mouth water anyway!!

Thanks. The LS460 fell through. Looking at a 430 tomorrow. Honestly I am more concerned with the car having maintenance records and being "clean". The 460 had less miles, but you could tell it wasn't taken care of that well.

Sorry the deal fell through. There are plenty of 460's coming up every day. Unless you are in a rush to get in a car, patience and negotiation are your friends.

I think you guys arguing over
which car is better is just plain dumb. Its lile arguing about oranges and tangerines. People who like LS430 will always like ls430 better than la460 and those who like ls460 will always lole that car better than ls430.
Personally i like the ls430 not because i think its better than an ls460 but because i owned one and given me 245,000 trouble miles and bought it brand new in 2005. I cannot say anything about ls460 because i dont own one. Buy i can tell you this.... i sold my ls430 because i wamted something new and didnt like the styling of the ls460 so i bought a 2014 GS350 instead and love it just as i did my ls430.

Arguing may be dumb but comparing two Lexus flagships is not dumb whatsoever. They are clearly not the same car and there was a change in the direction to more sport sedan with the 460. This is what it is. If anything, the main argument more boils down to bad design choices by Lexus engineers and reliability issues. Prices went up and many argue quality went down. This is a real problem. It is only natural to compare LS models vs a GS or ES.

Default Close Call

As a previous owner of a 2005 ls430 that was totaled to a 2007 ls460 it is a close call between the two. The ls460 is faster, bigger, and rides smoother but the build quality not up to ls430 level. The ls460 has dash squeaks that some say can be fixed while others say the fix is only temporary and expensive to say the least. Sometimes I never know what im going to get when I press the gas pedal on my ls460. Most of the time she takes off like a bat out hell but every now and again she will pause before taking off leaving my heart pounding in anticipation of an accident. While the ls460 may not be as perfect as the ls430, it is still a car I would purchase again.

put simply, i had a beautiful 2001 LS430 UL with very low miles (sold last year with 50K miles) and i will NOT be going back to it. i refuse to go backwards and will keep moving forward with better vehicles.

however, i may talk my dad into dumping his GS400 for an 2004-2006 LS430!

i have 29,625 miles on this LS460L and hope to be out of it within 2 years, and at 50K miles. (now i have to try to drive 10K a year instead of 15K )

my next goal is to move into a very controversial but exciting Maybach.

That's cool. I don't go though cars like some folks do. I typically keep them 7-10 years. I am putting an offer down on a really nice 08 Monday. Just have to let the wifey drive it first. I absolutely love it.

There hasn't been enough time for these vehicles to have miles on them totaling above the 200k mark, but I know some are close. And there is one member on here with over 300k on his (he bought it off a guy that used it as a limo). I want to say that even at 300k only minor repairs were made...all of which he did himself (valve cover gaskets, etc).

My 430 only had 74K when I traded it in on the 08 LS460. I also keep a car 7-10 years as well. But I had dreams of an 08 LS when I bought the 430, so I made it 6 years. As with your wife, mine was skeptical I could be getting a better vehicle than my 430. Once we took the test drive, she was sold.
