Default Brembo Brakes how to stop the squeal

The Brembo brakes on my LS460 F Sport squeal. It is iterating and I would like to stop the squeal. I did a lot of research on the internet and I hare given a short report here:

I found over 10 different auto websites where users asked for help in how to stop the squeal.

It seems that Brembo brakes squeal on all cars. It is a surprise to me that Brembeo has not fixed this problem but there it is.

Of all the suggestions I think the best idea is to change the pads. When I find the time I will do it and report back.

In the meantime I have cut and pasted some of the postings I found bellow, The last 2 are on our site.

1. First is a you tube video where he files down the leading edge of the brake pads that can standard with new shims:

2. This site gives advice on how to install the brake pads.

http://www.stoptech.com/technical-su...ake-pad-bed-in

3. Here is a G35 driver who added shims

4. This website talks about changing the pads to Hawk HPS pads.

http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-tir...ng-merged.html

5. A BMW website suggests that all Brembo brakes squeal period. however on person suggested that if you re torque the bolts the squeal goes away

http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e39...squeaking.html

6. Here on ClubLexus there is a posting

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...-so-noisy.html

7. Another post on Club Lexus which is quite long is below. Mr Mike Lulejian from
Lake Oconee, GA suggested that the pads be Akebono Ceramic Pads on his car. they are the best and he said it fixed his squeal.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...bo-brakes.html

If anybody has any ideas please post them. As soon as I find the time and find a independent shop in the NYC area I will report back.

thanks

phil

I regret to report that I could not find replacement Akebono pads for my F Sport.

All of the people I spoke to (7 in all) said the Brembos stop the car faster but they make noise.

If anyone finds pads that fit my 2013 LS F sport please let me know.

thank you.

I doubt the squeal is from worn break pads since your car is a 2013, so the problem is most likely that the back of the pads, pad pins, and clip need to have anti seize applied. Here is the evo forum post I've always followed on where to apply the anti seize. May Neenah to be a member to view pics. http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-how...rake-pads.html

If the OEM brakes have the ability to lock up the tires and are overridden by the anti-skid feature (which they do), then Bremo brakes cannot stop the car any faster than the OEM. Only after repeated braking when the brake rotor and pads heat up and the brakes start to fade, then the Bremo brakes will provide superior braking.

I have a GS400 with akebono ceramic pads. My wife has a GS400 with stock pads. My wifes car stops shorter than mine. THe ceramic pads are great for dust, but less stopping power. IMHO

If the Brembo brakes have a larger surface area, then braking distance will be shorter. That is why the viper, porsche, etc have massive discs.

I've had the Akebono ceramics on my prior BMW 540 and now on my ls460. I would have to agree partially with your experience. For me, what I did notice was the Akebono's had much less initial bite than the oem BMW pads. There wasn't a huge diff between the Akebono's and oem Lexus/Toyota pads. Having much, much less brake dust was an acceptable trade-off for me since both cars had/have aftermarket wheels

I know Carbotech makes a pad to replace the Brembo. I was thinking of trying them. Anybody heard of them before.
