Hey guys, been wanting an LS460 for a long and prices for a used LS are getting enticing.
I have a 98GS4 with 90k miles on it I would be trading in. I'm at the point now where I would need to start doing some maintenance on her, timing belt water pump brakes etc etc so I'm thinking now may be a good time to just trade her in for an LS.... I am getting married this coming September so I would rather do it after that when I have all those lovely wedding bills paid off.

Thoughts? Should I wait another year or two for the 13' to drop in price? Should I just keep my GS, dump some money into her and drive her till she's ready to quit? I love my GS, but I'm all about that big body luxury lifestyle.

rumor is the LS complete redesign will happen next year. if so, the current LS (including 13) will take a dump. so it's really your call. if you do all those maintenance on the gs, you probably want to drive it another 3-4 years to make it worth it? for sure the used LS will be cheaper by then, but it's older car too

Hi. Congrats on getting married. In that case buy now!!! (J/K). Seriously, at the end of the day it really depends on some things. For one, if your current car is ok short of some future repairs, then trade it in. Make sure you go to kbb.com and look at the numbers. A good trade will help offset taxes on the new car. If you are set on the 13 and up, and can wait, sure the prices will drop each year. If you want a really nice LS with the old interior, the 2012 would be the way to go.

I've never been one to dump money into a car that's old and has high mileage. Not that it's not worth it, but once you spend thousands on repairs, why not find something you want and put that cash into the new ride. Just my thoughts.

I don't think your GS will quit you, you will probably quit your GS. Major life changes like getting married can really change your perspective especially on financial matters so I would wait until the honey moon is over before you make an informed choice especially when buying used. These cars are not going anywhere and will only get cheaper when you are ready.
However there is one exception and that is there is going to be a flood of repossessed cars in the pipeline during this spring and summer because of delinquent leases and financed cars from last year. When these cars hit the market they will be competitively priced to cut losses and they will be willing to deal.
Your existing car may fetch a good price because it may be sought after from those whose credit has run too thin to buy new.
It might be a win win .

Thanks guys for the input! Good information there. My car runs very strong and well, I love it, but the interior is outdated and the ride isn't as smooth as I'd like.

I was looking at buying the 07-12 LS (one for 25k with 50k on it) but if I'm going to wait, I might as well wait for the 13-14 to dump in price! If the redesign rumor is true, then I will have wait for the right 13'

your car is as solid as a rock. just dated

my dad still has his 2000 GS400 with 180K on the clock and other than standard maintenance it performs like any modern day car.

so if you have to wait a minute to pull the purchase it won't hurt. (speaking of, he's thinking about upgrading the GS to a LS460L AWD for my mom!! )

I'd keep a lookout for the right deal...like you said, if you invest in fixing your car, might as well keep it for another 3-4 years....or sell it sooner and feel the cloud-like ride of the LS460. You can worry about resale value later =)

Just do it ! you wont regret it for a second! Life is too short to miss out ...its completely different and far better than a GS !

Go for the LS 460. It's reliable, fast, big, comfortable, smooth and roomy. You want regret it.
