Is an LS 460 expensive to maintain after 100,000 miles?

I've had a couple Lexus cars upwards of 200k miles. To me the biggest fear on the LS460 is the control arms. My independent mechanic (prior Lexus master tech, has a 00 LS400 himself) says he personally would not buy a 460 to keep a long time because of the cost of replacing them.
Engine, transmission, etc are going to be bulletproof. You'd think electronics would be a problem, but they really don't seem to be. My old 03 ES has 170,000 miles and is still in the family. Only repair I ever did to it was control arms at about 150k, and the family member that has it now put an alternator in it about 6 months ago. Thats all.

When you get into the 100-150k+ miles you're going to have components fail that are expensive to replace, no doubt. Parts begin to wear out and need replacing. Namely the suspension components, alternator, starter, engine & tranny mounts, struts, timing belt, etc. These things typically are not cheap to replace unless you're a DIY'r. I didn't have a 460 but I picked my 99 LS400 up a few years back with 138k and over the next 20k miles I put $3500+ in pretty much all of the things I listed above. If own the car, expect to set aside a couple hundred bucks a month for maintenance. It beats $800/month if you finance a new one.

Thank you all
Thanks to everyone for your comments. They have been very helpful. In the end it was a mixture of common sense and logic. I guess it's common sense that as the car gets older things wear out and it's logical that they must wear out even more after 125,000 miles because that's the maximum warranty available.
My Lexus has been so maintenance free compared to the Mercedes cars I drove in the past that I had this suspicion that the car would drive on and on forever.
if the dealer will give me 40% of what my car was worth when it was new and if I can have the fun of driving a new car it seems like a good time to trade.
If I had a garage or place to park the car I would never sell it because I agree with the points that some of you made namely that even if you have to spend money repairing it it's worth it if you know you've taken good care of your car as I have from when I bought the car new.
Thank you all for your time and advise.

Don't get us wrong, the LS is one of if not the most reliable car on the road overall, but as anything ages there are going to be repairs. Since parking costs $600 a month in NYC, and you don't need two cars I would definitely sell it.

The LS460 has a timing chain, no timing belt.

No company for any home appliance or electronic item warranties their product for a lifetime. I have seen some fool proof small mechanical items that have a lifetime guarantee but that's about it.
Just about any car can last over 200k, the only difference is how much is it going to cost to get it there. Toyota is probably the best bet in the industry.

I was close to buying a 460 over my 430 but the cost of the parts is rather ridiculous. 430's are more reliable overall but if the general cost of 460 parts were not 3 times as expensive as 430 parts then I may have gone with the 460. There is a reason why CPO is so popular when buying 460's and not so concerning with the 430's.
Also, extended warranties are never in the consumers favor but no reason to beat a dead horse.

Keep ur ride
Dude car dealers are scum bags. I say this because they lie for a living, it's sad. The truth is they tell you it will cost you a lot to maintain it after 100k so you trade it in. Then when they go to sell your 100k traded in car they are saying the exact opposite to the customer looking to buy it " oh don't pay attention to the 100k! 100k is normal for Lexus. Hell, my wife drives my old Lexus and it has 220k on it" blah blah blah. 2 things will be a tad pricy at the 100k-150k mark. Your air ride ( 100k life on air ride is normal for decent cars) and the breaks. (. The breaking system on the LS is more complex so it cost a little more ) and that's still a big maybe. Depending on how you drive choir car, weather, storage etc. You may get another 100k with just oil changes. If you take care of a Lexus it will do the same for you. I'm at 80k on my 2010 es and almost traded it in for a 2011 m37x with 40k. But the Lexus drove smooth, silky soft, and I can just tell I wouldn't have to wory about much else other than oil and windshield washer fluid for another 6ride but if you really have an itch for a new car. YOLO. Go for it. But if your trying to be frugal and make a good finical decision...keep ur ls

Help us out. We just sold our son our 05 ES with 155K on it. We are looking at two vehicles.
1.) 09 LS-L AWD with 120K excellent condition with all service records.
2.) 12 ES Loaded with 29K CPO.
Both are about the same price and I know we are dealing with two completely different cars. Just asking for some advice.
